AuthorThe Great Etymology Throwdown
True to form you are once again mistaken, though the rekindled memories of Warhammer were an interesting side note. Incidentally in your barely coherent ramblings you did stumble towards a semblance of truth since the word carnival does stem from a somewhat tawdry beginning.

You see the literal translation of the word is vale of the flesh, carne relating to the Spanish root for meat, and Val relating to valley. As is immediately obvious to all but the most innocent this is the referring rather crudely to the female pudenda.

In the male dominated societies of old where equality was a concept distant on the horizon, enjoyment and festivities were associated with the intimate act of love making. A large gathering of such people for the likes of orgies were thus called a carnival. Over time with social progression and a shift away from open prostitution, these festivals morphed onto the carnival of the modern age, though the name survived this change.
Time for ... uh ... rebuttals, everyone

Can I vote for MilesTeg?
I am sorry ulmo if it was your word you could have just picked him as the winner but since it is a participant’s word suggestion esteemed danathan will pick the winner post rebuttal.
Igles at least put some effort into making your posts coherent please, miles takes this one easy
well thank god then that i made the rules and your vote is moot.
Well I wasn't voting just simply stating a fact that is obvious to anyone with basic comprehension skills. For any other conclusion to be drawn by your 'esteemed danathan' would be tantamount to heresy against the institution of the English language
Umm by the way, who is the mysterious danathan, I cannot seem to find this player.....

Lord MilesTeg wins this round. The best submissions contain at least a smidge of truth, and it is indeed the case that carn refers to flesh, at least according to 5 seconds on Google. (Wrong part of the word there, Miles, but who's paying attention?)

The decision was only _somewhat_ affected by Merlin's declaration that voting otherwise would be "tantamount to heresy against the institution of the English language .

Points after the end of the round:
Lord MilesTeg 1
Igles 0
Hapkoman 0
LordNebiros92 0 (probably should've given you -1 for your answer, but meh)

Submissions for the next round are now open

P.S. For those who are curious: https://www.etymonline.com/word/carnival

Thank you Sir.

Not quite sure I get what you mean entirely, but hey ho. Interesting what it actually means, I just went for the nearest word I new from a little spanish and the dish Chilli con Carne, which literally I thought means 'chilli with meat'

Do I really need to submit new words for the next round? I just chucked a load down so as to have a plethora of options since there did not seem to be many banging around. I was trying to avoid any sense of trying to give myself benefit by choosing a word I had already thought through.
No, you don’t have to make any more submissions

I’ve already made my decision anyways - I’m just pretending to be fair
