AuthorStalking thief.....beware
to 119.
Althought i am a real thief but i don't hate anti-thieves. I like them. Many anti-thieves with full AP catch poor thieves with min AP. Someone tells me it is fair or unfair? Thieves are players too. I safe poor thieves :).
Now we have battles between thieve and unti-thieves, this causes our game more intersting. I will give 1000 gold each time to anyone who catchs me but 1vs1 only.

Thank you

now that in this our hierarchic community a lvl 13 has exactly expressed my thoughts, I dare to post my 2 cents here and not only congratulate in private with such a brilliant thief :D

... stalking? pff
121:
You dont save any poor thieves because you are just monitoring all players and avoiding any strong anti-amubshers. You just rob poor equipped travellers and leave nothing to other poor thieves.

Face me, in dual or at road.
catching the players is not the hard part, its far more difficult to avoid the caravans.
Getting 3-4 players in a row without caravans is possible, but 17 players and only 2 caravans in between...
for CaligulaX:
U wear full AP with 8*10% modifications to catch thieves. U waste 3000 gold but u get only 5.000-10.000 exp. I am a thief so i have to run :)), you have to catch me. Catch me if you can.
126:
I will.
I don't care about wasting money. I have plenty of it, so do you.
The hard part is not to disturb other innocent thieves :P ( i will try monitoring them to prevent it happen.)
Well performed d84. I'd copy it if werent to lazy and loosing aganist minart travelers ;).
120.

Those hackers are expert in computer and making profit of it,SHOULD we admire them?I don't think so,since what they do is illegal.

I am not accusing any player of hacker.I don't think it is illegal to stalk someone either. However, how could we be sure that THE MEANS one uses to ambush 10+ players in a row is not against the rules?
for smart0eddie:
I'm with you on that one.
He could be violating General Rules 2.2 and 2.3

Many players and I believe that TG should be this way:
a.) thieves should get a strict caravan:player ratio and there's nothing you can do to influence the ratio.
b.) you can't pick and choose (if you get a player) who you want to ambush.

Now those 2 points aren't expressly written down in any rule and many have tried to figure out all the details of how TG works. The most form of manlipulation of TG is when a player keeps on ambushing his "friend" or multi to gain easy thief points, xp, and fsp. These ambushes are staged combats. The other loophole (?) is stalking players and avoiding caravans. Not many players do this. Whether this is a rule break or should be a rule break, I don't know.
I don't wanna comment on whether what d84 is doing is illegal since we don't really have proof. However, we can speculate that his unusually high success rate of getting players instead of caravans does raise suspicion..

I mean, as far as I can remember reading (and from my experience from doing about 3000-4000 ambushes) when I first joined the game, the ratio of player/caravan is supposed to be about 1:5 (20%). Of course, like anything random, the ratio can be higher/lower for a period of time, but generally over a sustained period, the ratio should fall back to around 20%. He's like getting players at a sustained rate of about >80-90% (?!).

It really doesn't matter if he has stalked a player and keeping clicking Refresh or whatever - the program should still have an 80% chance to trigger a caravan instead of the stalked player, no? So like Pantheon said, doing anything (not saying d84 did) that's exploiting a loophole in the program is considered a rules break, no?

I remember seeing someone posting a link of a player who faced the same player (his multi) in an ambush for like 10-20 times IN A ROW(!). If that's not exploiting a loophole, I really don't know what is..
131

Maybe u should stop ur paranoia and stick to the facts. Fact is u can avoid npc caravans quite easy. Its just u dont have any idea how they trigger.
130
You could just as well violate rule 2.2 and 2.3 like everybody else too. There is no proof for anything. Svens idea seems to be the right one.

131
Why do you belife that is a lophole? d84 is just smart enough to choose his victims like a smart thief always should.
#132

??? Go through this thread, and tell me how many posts by how many different players made similar comments to what I said. Why specifically comment on my 1 post after so many similars remarks were made? And who is paranoid now?

And if you really wanna stick to the facts - I believe the game's ratio for triggering a player in an ambush is around 20%. So anything that allows a player to get significantly much higher ratio (>80%) is in all purpose exploiting a loophole that's against the game's intended mechanics. Whether we like/dislike the 20% ratio is not the issue, coz the 20% is supposed to apply to everyone.

Fact is I set an ambush like the majority of players here - Set and then wait till ambush trigger. And I get my ratio of roughly 1:5 player/caravan. A

And if you meant if I have any idea on how to trigger just mostly players, and not caravans, then you are right. I have no idea and don't intend to know. That's coz that's not what the game intended - For us to know how to trigger just mostly players, and not caravans.

Let's give a similar example - The game's mechanics is such that the (faction) type of caravans we faced is supposed to be totally random. We all know that for Wizs, they really would like to avoid Barb and Wiz caravans as compared to the other factions, coz of the magic resistance that these 2 armys have. Now let's say someone found a way so that the chance of triggering Barb and Wiz caravans is almost 0%. Isn't this against what the game is programmed to do? So if a player found a way, is this allowed, or is this breaking some rules by exploiting a loophole?

Fact is not whether a player knows how to avoid npc caravans eaily or not. It's whether the game intended for players to know it in the first place and thus make a mockery of the 20% ratio.
d84 is just smart enough to choose his victims like a smart thief always should.
#133

Basically, I believe what Pantheon meant was it's not a question of whether how good/bad/smart d84 is.

The game never intended for any player to be able to CHOOSE what he/she gets, caravan or player, and definitely not to the point where you can even choose WHICH player you wanna face in an ambush..
@136

Nature never wanted man to speculate weather. And weather is quite random at times. But man still speculates or forecasts weather and most of the times turns right. Does that mean he is cheating with nature? Even tho its true, he is doing it for his own good.

The same way d84 is thinking the same a thief would. If he can speculate his victims, then why won't he. After all it's for his own good. ;)

No offense. xD
134

In that case im also breaking some of ur imaginative and paranoid rules. coz my player to npc ratio is less then 10npcs to 1 player.

btw i dont know why ur always unhappy back when npc caravans triggered randomly players were unhappy it takes too long to catch them now they unhappy some use that pattern to skip npc caravans completely...
for Jedi-Knight:
There is no such set 20% in the game mechanic.
#137

No problem. I totaly respect your opinion on this.

Lemme make myself clear. I have nothing against d84 and what he is doing though I have been his victim a number of times.

What he is doing is indeed 'smart' (though a bit time-consuming) and something I have not mucc of a problem with, although it can get pretty frustrating if you are in a hurry/don't have much time to play this game daily and you have a stalker targetting you in 2-4 ambushes a day. That's like an hour everyday just fighting ambushes with the same player(?!)

Anyway, told myself he'll never get to ambush me again, and I'll try my darnest that it won't happen! haha..

D84 has indeed changed the way lvl 13 plays. A few players I know is now either travelling in pairs and/or in full enchanted arts. Bad news for the other thieves who just wanna build their TG or secondary factions. The chance of getting some easy exp/fsp/TG points from unarmed travellers is getting more and more rare.

But, in all sincerity, all the best to you, d84. You have certainly changed the way how lvl 13s play and behave in this game. :)
