you're missing the point, love.
discussion was about whether DE racial skill (piercing magic) has been rendered useless against barbarians (who now lose their magic resistance, so what's to pierce?).
IMO, nothing changes for mage DE: barbs can wear many arts that give magic resistance (mithril arts, cape of winds, etc.), so piercing magic is still very useful (plus they might wear arts enchanted with resistances).
for might DE, the skill is as useless as always. so nothing changes there either. | bad ability (

they already got best dragons and shrews | I do agree the DE Racial Ability is diminished, but certainly not useless.
As as spellcasting DE I find Barbarians one of my toughest foes. Now that they don't get spell resistance, my job in destroying them should be slightly easier.
There are still monsters that have spell resistance and immunity, plus some armour. Mithril Armour is a more recent addition to the game and pierce magic does add to the damage in this case.
Anyhow those are my two pennies.
