Not sure if I need re-clarification of the rules on loans and gifts...but I am sort of confused on why over 50% of the current highest bidders on these luxury auctions do not seem to have anywhere close to owning the gold/funds to pay for their prizes (perhaps many of them have some Thief Invitations in their stash?)...
...can anyone just place bids to raise the prices of the luxury items/properties even if they have zero means of being able to pay for them? |

When you make a bid, the bid amount is deducted from a lord's account.
What you see on the bidders' profiles are after the bid deduction. |

None of the current winning (non-thief) bidders will win those thief invites... lol they are already bidding most of their fortunes.
When our (thief) millionaires log in, we will see these items going above 900k. And sold for an extra 50k-200k PROFIT within 1h after end of auction!!! Ah its good to be a senior in this game, lucky i got mine rented to me for 50k gold.
As for the other (useless?) luxury items, I wish people keep bidding... and waste their hard-earn gold. Makes me feel less broke due to my cross-training lifestyle.

if you want mix your golds you can first give your max gift then loan same amount of gold and in next month gift it again and your friend can pay "loan" back with it |
