hard to say, i use both.
berserkers can do enormous dmg, with a little luck and maybe bless spell.
but they are very vulnerable when their defense drops to 0 :(
so do not push them too far to front lines.
and spears are useful for stealing spells, and their mayhem can change the course of battle if you manage to mayhem some big dangerous stack.
i mostly use stun rune on them and try to cripple or stun important enemy stacks.
works nice with soldiers luck :) |

I'm using max berserkers. To make sure they don't die on their first attack I also use the intangibility rune. I also bless them with my hero.
This way I can use them for at least 2 turns. And they are enemy stack killers :D |

Yes, in alec challenge is better to use max spear (as in any other PvP battle).
For TG I find it better to use max berserkers, split into 2 stacks. Use rune of intangibility on both of them and go berserk :)
In TG I use the same troop placement and strategy as before the new AI and it seems to work almost as well as before. The bigest problems I have are with DE and Elf caravans, but I had the same issues before the updade... |
