Author | Do barbs need a better faction skill? |
The problem is, after we get into battle we won't have any more turn to accumulate (except if we decide to wait or run from the enemy) because we'll keep attacking each turn.
The way I see it, you are stuck in a mentality that each factions should have a particular forte that they rely on like Knights with their "training" or Necros with their "moar skelies". You seem to think that Barbarians should have to depend on a particular feature as well. Did it not occur to you that maybe, just maybe, the Barbarian basic configuration is strong enough to stand without any more special features?
Also, with current mechanics, the Barbarian gets the most out of non-attacking turns of any factions. Ideally, your armies should be able to deliver their damage payload in all of their turns. Of course, this may not be possible all the time and you will have turns when you can do nothing but wait or walk or defend. Other factions waste their damage potential when they walk or defend or wait, Barbarians are able to recycle a bit of that wasted potential and use it in their next attack. I find it perplexing (and amusing) that you would focus more on failure to accumulate readiness than on the fact that your unit just delivered its damage potential (attacking on each turn). I'm suddenly reminded of Pang's favorite quote. XD
The Barbarian ability is like a side arm. It is not your primary weapon like the ones Knights or Necromancers have. It is there for times when you are not able to use your main gun. |
I agree with the 'getting lots of initiative' part, but getting around 7~10% init is the best I can get. But in my opinion going for fast initiative means we're aiming to strike before the enemy strikes thus reducing the moment to accumulate combat readiness.
I forgot to address this. I was actually thinking of having your ogres and hobgoblins and raiders and behemoths rush your enemy and then getting lucky with Morale bursts on their first move before they attack. |
i agree part of the post 41.
think another way back, the current barbarian is might built and the only built. in most of case, their dmg output is so awesome due to load of offence talent + high initiative [orc war chief. roc, hob and so on] grant them on advantage to launch the 1st strike.
with the current faction skill, it boost the orge/orge magi and behemonth/ancient behemonth due to low initiative to grant them extra dmg output. it further strength up the dmg output for slow unit.
some might argue that nothing much difference on that. but, consider that orge/orge magi and behe/ancient behe has lower priority for AI to kill + last man stand stack + troop ability + decent amount of recruitment [in same tier]. they can be killing machine to assist you in come combats such as TG or MT.
in pvp, do you wanna deal with orge magi [with full load of offence talent + some CR] without take retal? i would say even a full stack of guardians have to pray for stun triggered else the retal could easily destroy and kill alot guardians.
as for magic proof, i would say it might apply for the the alter class of barbarian. who know? the current barbarian had enough range advantage to kill the opponent; the alter-barbarian might focus more on melee based and they could use some magic resist and better defence ability [be it defence talent or troop ability] to counter spell faction.
goblin archer? boar rider? no clue show they will be part of the alter-barbarian troops. but, we shall see in future :) |
Well, I wouldn't talk about it any much more because I'm still a CL 10 Barb, let's hope that on higher CL I may have a different point of view regarding Combat Readiness :D
I do agree with #36 stating that combat readiness is better than magic proof in a might against might fight. Although I rarely see anyone goes might build (except for barb) in a full art battle
for Grusharaburas & Pang I'll take your advices and won't argue anymore for now, perhaps I'm the one who is too dumb to use my troops. Thanks for interesting reply & opinion |
rofl, i m not pointing that you were argue with us.
we were in discussion, just relax :) |
Enough reasons have been given why barbs'combat readiness is useful. Everybody whines knights whine for reducing their holy knight troops,de whines for having piercing magic back ,demon whines for lo popularity, necro whines for no morale, wiz whines for being most favored faction to develop resistance,, maybe we will see dwarves whine for their short height:p |
oh, man, i am so shooort :( |
@#47
if i could give you a high five for that comment after #46's comment... I would. I was laughing for quite some time after reading those two posts XD |
*kneeling down and giving debeljucka a high five*
I laughed for a whole minute on reading 47. |
necro whines for no morale? Show me these whinny whiners!! :) |
I don't care about Combat readiness or magic proof. I want clothes. |
for Lord Schwarzenegger:
Now thats a sensible request :p
Artifact shop is open go and get them!! |
I think he meant barb char need some clothing
I would say current barb looks so man and handsome..with muscle |
oh man! the artifact shop discriminates! have you ever tried those leathers? They are very hot and makes us sweat so much. The steel items are very cold to the skin? Can't we just have a cotton shirt? |
wear a hunter shirt |
The orcs shoot, and shot to the Wolf raiders, "Hey man, move!" Wolf raider picks his teeth and limps a few paces. "I am not ready yet. My Wolf has fleas." Sure enough, the Wolf sits down to scratch its butt with yon hind leg. But the wardens are only down by a third. The orc wasn't co-ready.
Ogre says, "Maai taaarn eees caaaaamiiiing". The Warden sits down and chooses a particularly nasty looking bolt. Whack goes the bolt. Two third of wolves are dead.
A recruit is sneaking up the ogre. Life insurance done. After life assured by the monk. Taps the ogre on the shoulder. Ogre jump, and wham! Poor recruit no more. Combat readiness gone. "Maai taarn eees caaaming" says the ogre.
before that, there is a long queue. "No shoving," says the griffin. The efk dances after that. the swords are next. Then the griffs again...
Now, thats what you call a whine. |
for Greyfalcon :
nice way of explaining the problem of barbs lol |
