AuthorPortals of time
it's the same as last time i think
level 1-4 win gives 20 and level 5 win gave me 22

i got 8 crystals for a level 1 loss
it's just me or number of crystals per win or loss are decreased??
Last time itself it was decreased.
Wow, they have decreased the amount of units even further. The decreasement from the units that I know:
skeletons was 43 now 37 units
skeletal bowmen was 26 now 20 units
skeletal legionaires was 19 now 13 units
enchanted gargoyle was 13 now 7 units
grotesques was 11 now 6 units
That´s a decrease in amount for creatures for like 24-47%. Last POT they had hugely decreased the amount of crystals for a win and had decreased unit stack amounts as well, but now to decrease the stack amounts even further? I guess the admins are really putting in an effort to decrease any enjoyment that was left.

2 monks are 11 crystals but 1 cleric is 54 crystals, I guess the vodka got poured immensely while making these decisions. And magic guild 2 getting raised form 350 crystals to 900 crystals? Haha, now that there sais it all.
They clearly want us to find new strategies and tactics rather than just replay what we did last time. That at least keeps it fresh.

The changes are not necessarily bad as long as the strength of the opposition is matched to the smaller armies we get and less crystals to spend per win / loss. It will depend how quickly the difficulty ramps up and the variability in strength at a given level.

But I will wait and see what they have actually given us to decide if they got it right this time. Their past record at balancing events is not good.
No big deal if recruit count has been reduced since enemy strength has been reduced in proportion too. But yeah it is rather premature to conclude that this will be a balanced event, usually admin would screw most things up in day 2 itself.
Can someone say what's his army composition? For advice to others like me.
ive already been facing T7 units, id say thats not very balanced.
my Build from last 4 PoT

low crystal (day 1-3)
forest brethen, Fk, EFK
dont bother put crystal in stats

Mid crystal (day 4-6)
main stack : forest brethen and frontier ursary
support stack : Goblin warlock, shaman, druid
and some shooter as bait
stats : around 5%damage 10%def 5%ini 0%stack count will do

High crystal (day 7-8)
main stack : charger, shadow dragon, forest brethen
support stack : shaman, ogremagi
stats : same as above except aim for 9-11% stack count
How are you guys choosing the level?

After every win , you go +1 level? Or you stick for lower levels, like doing 5 battles at level 1 and then slowly increasing it? If yes , then why?
fiends blazing hounds work

VAMP x2 typs + skele bows works

Barb strategy works

FK + FB + Dyrad + Faries work

So also 15 royal griffons and 35 Xbows
doing 5 battles at level 1 and then slowly increasing it? If yes , then why?
Those are for players whom farm FSP :) Their main purpose is to get the max amount of FSP available without the risk of losing.
Does the AI do more damage now? Even one angel did over 250 damage and that was when I even had all my hero points in def. 30 goblins in close combat did the same as well, it´s weird.
Or you stick for lower levels, like doing 5 battles at level 1 and then slowly increasing it? If yes , then why?

You can easily farm FSP for your secondary factions without spending too much gold for arts (Like this you won't need more than minimum allowed AP).
I think there are several reasons for leveling up fast and trying to get as many crystals as possible.

1. The durability of the Artifact reward will probably be determined by the number of crystals. Possibly it will be by level reached but that is closely related to crystals gained anyway as that determines the strength of your final army.

2. If you play your battles for a military clan then the crystals gained will boost the clan's score.
Tactic for getting top of the list and best art - to discuss (I am not suggesting it as an ethical things - just possile)

Take 4 players - 2 just want to farm - 2 want to try and get the highest possible.

2 farmers play minimum levels for a day or two -
2 maxers do not do anything

After a little bit the Maxers go one each with the farmers - who can now walk the easy battles - allowing the maxers to beat comparatively difficult enemes to start with. Ie do one level 5, then straight to level 10 as carried by team mate.

This accellerates the growth of the maxers to be more than normal. allowing quicker progression.

Eventually the two maxers helped out by stronger allies are no longer to be able to be carried by other stronger teemies as those teamies have run out of battles. They then join up together to get highest levels poss.

Given that historically the top players in PoT seem to do all the battles with the same teamie this tactic should allow a careful and patient person get top of the list and forever live in glory.

However, as a tactic - other than its potential effectiveness I don;t particularly like it!

Thoughts?
For those that complaining about troops being more expensive:

Forest brethrens 8/pack now, was 6

Firebird/dark rock 2/pack now, was 1

Don't just sit and cry like a baby
i am feeling that the difficulty is kinda lower this event, so i guess they square out
56# Right now some army compositions are just too good compared to others. Just compare the Forest Breather cost to Shrew cost for example. Some units are just not worth at all. But I agree, the overall cost of units its good to make an army.

Btw, a clanmate just got a Meteor Shard on winning, dahell hahah.
for Ipsen:

Part of this game is to find out the right creature combination with best cost effectiveness. So I'm fine with some creatures much better than others. You'll need good understanding of this game to find out best combo
for liuker:
That's the problem imo liuker... You dont really need good understanding of this game to find out best combo, it's actually quite easy to find the best options, but that's unfair, because admins might as well simply remove the other options if they are not even playable... like everything Lawton mentioned in post 43 is now useless.

What they should have done was to make all options equally balanced so that players could play with anything they like yet still have fair chances to win, otherwise it gets too boring to keep playing with a 'perfect' recruitment.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
