I don't really see a reason why. Once the combat is loaded (graphics and stuff), the communication between you and the game server is minimal (your action can be encoded as unit from cell X moves to cell Y), same as before. Actions of other players will be communicated from the server to you in the same manner, minimal.
Core game engine will probably get cached in your browser. I am not sure if the flash one is. I am not sure which one would be bigger, but it should only happen once in a while (if it gets updated, you'll probably have to download it again instead of using the cached version).
Game assets are probably the only thing that would need to be loaded at the start of each combat. But again I don't see why it would be different from what is already happening with flash. If they use vector based graphics, they should be small in size too. Otherwise, if you are on a poor connection, they could serve simpler graphics instead. | Personaly, I love how fast stuff moves in this combat mode. I am only using it for all pve now and I love it, I am doing my battles 3 times as fast as before, the AI moves so fast.
Fix the problem of it crashing when a miss happens (on incorporeal units) and its perfect.
