I think that the players themselves do not lend a lot of credibility to playing for their country. They are only interested in the 20 over format. None of the developed players are wanting to put the effort into test cricket and to give back on that basis. They are like mercenaries for hire... Plying their trade in one T20 competition, making their money and then moving onto the next.
Hopefully the win will encourage the WI cricket board to invest more into test cricket, but it's hard to do so when the players are wanting to play the shorter alternatives and ply their trade around the world! |
