Here's an idea to go with no-durability artifacts.
With all the gold being added into the economy, repairing artifacts is currently a huge part of taking money out of the economy. It was mentioned in the upcoming features that taking out item durability was suggested before. I like the idea very much. However, I feel like this will allow the economy to retain a lot of gold that is earned, causing inflation, so here's my proposal:
Add a castle development time and minor upgrades. For example, the Golem foundry currently allows 10 golems to be recruited as soon as you build it for 800gold, 1wood, and 1ore.
Golem foundry
Being a magical blacksmith for production of the wizards' infantry, this construction allows to recruit from 10 mechanical golems upward.
Instead, I would rather have three levels for this golem foundry.
Golem foundry (1): recruit 5 golems.
Cost: 200 gold
Time: 1 hour
Golem foundry (2): recruit 7 golems.
Cost: 300 gold, 1wood, 1ore
Time: 2 hours
Golem foundry (3): recruit 10 golems.
Cost: 500 gold, 1wood, 1ore
Time: 4 hours
This way, the total cost is 1000gold, 2wood and 2ore, and the building time is 7 hours. This is fairly easy to acquire at level 3, considering that you've already put so many hours into playing.
However, higher level structures should have higher costs and more steps. For example:
Fort walls provide defense for your castle. Creature recruit count increases by 25%.
Required level: 7
Cost: 20,000gold, 20wood, 20ore
---Instead, we should have this:
Fort wall (1): recruit count increases 10%
Cost: 1000gold, 5wood, 5ore
Time: 5 hours
Fort wall (2): recruit count increases 13%
Cost: 2000gold, 5wood, 5ore
Time: 8 hours
Fort wall (3): recruit count increases 16%
Cost: 3000gold, 5wood, 5ore
Time: 11 hours
Fort wall (4): recruit count increases 19%
Cost: 4000gold, 6wood, 6ore
Time: 15 hours
Fort wall (5): recruit count increases 22%
Cost: 6000gold, 8wood, 8ore
Time: 19 hours
Fort wall (6): recruit count increases 25%
Cost: 10,000gold, 10wood, 10ore
Time: 24 hours
Total cost: 26,000gold, 39wood, 39ore
Total time: 82 hours
To me, this is MUCH more fun. It promotes frequent visits to your castle, and is much more interactive with your castle. |
