Lately, there have been quite alot of new players to the game.
This is usually a good thing, but SADLY several of the new players who drop into the chat seem to enjoy using smily buttons like mad.
A practice which I have given the term "speaking Smily-nese"
My suggestion would be to EITHER:
A: revoke access to the smily buttons AND the :***: command until a player has reached 2nd Combat Level.
B: make the chat coding refuse to submit any line of dialog which has more then one :***: command in it.
Option A might be a tad drastic, but it would ensure that people who are SERIOUS about playing this game stick around.
Option A would remove that spam problem entirely.
Option B would also affect people who do NOT spam smilies like mad, but most people tend to use only a single smily per line of text anyway.
Option B still has some potential room for spamming, but I suspect a lot of spammers would lose interest if they have to hit submit/enter after every single smily.
It can be quite annoying when you have a question and both it and the answer get drowned in a sea of smilies.
I apologize if this problem and/or solution have been mentioned before.
Yours sincerely,
