elves are overpowered? maybe yes maybe no, depand the situation.
I look many people complain especially knight and barbarian and give the link but all the link almost same, they defeaded in the battle in "group battle"
Yeah elf can become strong in group when 3 elf work together, why? coz elf have high initiative. that mean 3 elf work together in first turn to kill one target/primer target.
But if you want know the real power in elf, try in duel.
how about duel? elf still strong in duel 1vs1?
any knight or barbarian got problem to kill elf in duel 1vs1?
i think knight and barbarian can kill elf so easy in 1vs1, right?
that mean basicly elf not overpowered, they become strong coz team work with the other elf use their benefit in initiative. | | actually, barbarians have the upper hand on elves because the orcs have higher init. than elves | | we don't complain about elves in duels because they never play duels! | Ah! that meaning they must trying in duel before complain!
elf so difficult to win in duel with barbarian and knight, you want make make elf power more lower again? elf will be dead in duel if like that! | The language barrier here has got to be the biggest problem... and yes, elves are HIGHLY overpowered. To the point it is irrationally so... You guys defend them, because you play them, you like the free handouts. The majority of players are elven players, and thus, the majority of people will defend them. I assure you, when 5 unit stacks (with high ititative mind you) can cast lightning 3 times each, and guarantee 20 damage 3 times each, and STILL have 30+ hitpoints and formadible armor... They are overpowered. RUIDICLIOUSLY.
And don't get me started on the Elven archers, better stats, and double shots, sigh, archers should ALWAYS have last initative, ALWAYS, regardless of what they are fighting, they have to load and fire, (granted I can understand elves being faster than knights...) but still, to be faster than say swordsmen? seriously, c'mon... I guarantee you, I can run at you (wether I get there first or not) faster than you can load and fire. I know for a fact I can move a single foot forward first.
Then, to top all that off, their troops not only have high initative, they have omgwtfpwn high damage!... Honestly, they are about ~20% overpowered, and in a "strength means you deal more damage, and dealing more damage first means everything" type of game, Elves are uber...
I personally REFUSE to play as an elf because I will not ever, associate myself with a "bug user" or "extorter" yes, you do do that elf players, you extort the faults in the balance of the game, beyond the rational reason for anyone to compare.
Undead are a close 2nd, as they have and uncanny ability friggin ressurect everything over, and over, and over... (I still think ressed troops need to take a bigger HP cut when they are brought back to life)
/rant | I will also not change to elf simply because they are the overwhelmingly best faction as I find the play style of an elf rather boring. The two biggest comments i here in defence of elves is: "well just change to elf faction" which imo who wants to fight 3vs3 elf battles or 1vs1 elf dules; and "either flat out denial of of elves strength or some lame excuse about a minor weakness of a unit" i.e druids only having a few cast or keepers having weak defence. Every faction should have strenghts and weaknesses and to be honest elves have very few weaknesses compared to other factions.
In future if nothing is done to try and create a little more parity between races starting with elves then I will be forced to ban them from my games.
I have played many other games where balance has an issue, in one (Age of Wonders Shadow Magic) after making a small change to an elf unit (giving fairy dragons magic immunity at silver medal as opposed to gold) players after realizing people were exploiting this to win all the time decided to not allow elves to be played.
Of course the people who made the change defended it and also the players who played elves but majority of players who wished to be able to play with any race on a fairly even level decided to take action. Perhaps those players here of similar belief can do something in their own power about this issue and do likewise just not play with elves at all.
(Yes I know it is hard in that you can not stop an elf joining a battle but you can certainly specify that no elves are wanted and they will get the message sonn enough)
