have fraction controlled land/turf thats warred against by other factions to capture/claim
could start with basic good V evil and have it set on the surrounding area of the current map
with
good being wizards, knights, elfs
evil demons, necro and Darkelfs
is this even possible then?

I think it's a great idea :)
it will make this more like HOMM
(each region is guarded by castle that needs to be captured?)
maybe even a neutral region in the middle (at first) that will be guarded by NPCs :p |
hmm nice idea but... well you ccan change factoions so many people will say :
HEY other factions have more places i will change my factin, so you have to do something against this (sry my english is baaad), but it would be nice if it is balanced

would be better if you would have bonus Factions ( like empire of sun or empire of The Endless Darkness) ich you can join to make Teretory Wars.... (so you can still change you own faction^^)

... maybe the demons you summon betrayed the hell lord .. and live in a rebell camp in the hell^^
After all Dark elves have to be good cause they come from the eternal darkness (=good) like elves come from the etarnal light (=good too)
but if they are scared of the pure darkness/light and let some light/darkness in the soul they become evil^^

if so have u seen who owns the empire (guess who) Empire!
if they do seiges then it should be people assemble raiding parties and the highest lvl player owns the city and it changes to his/her type and all other members in the oridginal party gain benefits eg 5% gold from all items, resorces ect. bought from their land. |

im a DE and i just meant theyre hardly going to be on the side of there kindred brothers as there nothing alike
demons live in hell so if they escaped the knights and wotever are questing to put them back :P
barbarians can be like mecenarys type warriors with own clan and support the alliance type with less troops/people in it
that would help combat the switching sides problem |

Here is my 2 cents:
Seeing as this game mostly seems about the personal interests of the hero I would propose to have two completely different groups battle eachother for the territory, both consisting of npc's. Now, our characters would act as mercenaries. This would have the following benefits:
1) No clear cut good vs. evil. It was fun when I was 8 but I'd like something more of plot in my games now ;) Thus:
- Freedom of faction choice.
You can probably reason any faction fighting on any side, i.e Demons that are just in it for the carnage, they don't care which side wins etc.
2) Imbalances in the two sides can be offset by the rewards. If say side A controls 60% of the lands, side B gets a small increase in reward for their missions whilst defenders get less money but an increase in their battle skills. This will promote a mostly even battle. You could even penalise rewards when too many of one faction join a side.
3) You could add events, where some form of plot dictates the kinds of battles you need to fight, bonusses (if any) one side receives etc. |
i like the idea but there would have to be some way to balance out the populations of good and evil. Dividing them by faction isn't accurate as you can see by the faction population stats. Players should be able to choose which side they want with an incentive to choose the side with the lower population.
In the mmo space cowboy there are two factions and when you're asked to choose one, the side with the lower population has lower equipment prices which makes sense because overpopulation would raise demand and prices.
Also good and evil would make some players feel bad, most people would prefer good to evil, so instead, 2 warring kingdoms.
But otherwise i like territory wars. |
i only said good and evil as a way of separateing them into two groups as i REALLY hate multi battles where you end up with each side being pretty much the same composition and it then basically becomes about how u spent your skill points and what arts you have equiped
and i didnt want it to be territory wars for the same reason as if i choose not to fight in a single duel dont want the group battle to just then become single duels of 3 players ion each side needs some diversity |
maybe better if it will be clan war not territory. so the clan must send 3 volunteer to fight 3 man from other clans. |
