AuthorDark elves: poisoners
Hi,
at the moment I'm losing nearly every battle against other factions (I'm a lvl 5 dark elf) . Now im thinking of building a military academy allowing to recruit poisoners.
But when I look at the other dark elves I don't find poisoners in their army.
So what would you suggest me to do? The military academy is very expensive and I could buy some new arts with that money...
Poisoners are very powerful in groups of 10+ because of there posen abilty if u recruit them then use all of them cause if u posen a monster with 10+ of them they will be hit over 30 damage a turn ...
Poison depends on the amount of poisoners at the time of the attack...

If 14 poisoners hit a target, that target will recieve 14 damage every time it's his or hers turn.
This damage is earthbased.

I personally think that using poisoners is a great deal of tactics, and an improvement to the army. However, it requires you to sacrifice some of your other troops, so in the end I guess it depends on your gamingstyle.
I use them, i like them, but indeed, they are useless uin small stacks,

now i am trying an dark elf army without rogues (oh blashpemy)
rogues and poisoners are useless for me, i don like them...
they are too weak
the poison effect is only good in long battles, and of course when poisoners are so many. and i think 11 it's not many...
i like my current army setup at lvl 5

Ehm, there would probably be lots of spellcasting involved. ;)

The minotaurs are there as large HP-pools, and I don't think the elf can kill all of it so fast.
The tactic will be more efficient on higher levels though, when Frostring and Fireball is available.

Currently Mirz is lvl 6 and have no talents equipped... But the Earthen spikes deal at least 28 damage in the common "plus-pattern", and Mirz's Magic Arrow deal 64 damage.
ES would be used if 3 or more targets could be hurt, and otherwise the MA would write off at least a bunch of Elven Bowmen.
Poisoners have an Initiative of 12 as well, so they should be able to get the poison in on the elves before they get to shoot. (Depends a little on placements if it's really effective, but it should be good in most cases.)

what you say is true. we were just kidding Mirtz } he is a literate player, we fought together and he used well his rogues. and now this army setup...

sure it's a bit more practical tactic but to play without rogues? where is the fun?
At least he is saved from being sad when they are shot down by evil elves centerfield without having dealt a single damage. :P
Poor little rogues...

I just know my Shrews at lvl 8 (when I switch to DE) will be killed off before they even touch the battlefield. They'll be ambushed in the locker-room right before the fights, and just lie there dead on the battlefield. xD

nah, i made some mistakes in that battle, esp forgetting how slowly the barbarian warmachine gets into his paces

anyway, to the subject - personally I didn't upgrade to poisoners in all my 5 lvl period and don't think I will. just don't think it's worth it. from the beginning I tend to use my bandits as a retaliaters because of their good ini, speed and def. sometimes they help minos to build the defence around my rogues. unfortunatelly this is totally useless against ranged attackers, but with their 7 speed they stay at least out of range. now shrews... they are completely different thing. with 4 morale, 2 luck, 8 speed and art pumped ini they can do almost anything they wish }

But I still don't know, what I will do. I don't like the rogues, because they die too early in a battle. Today I played a 3 vs. 3 with Mirz on my side and I could see that the poisoners are a really strong weapon in a long battle.

If it wouldn't be so expensive, I would build the military academy emidiately, because there is another kind of tactic for playing with dark elves.
I don't have experiences from other servers and so I don't know if there are advantages of other units in the higher levels but at the moment I think that it is very hard to win with a lvl 5 dark elf in one on one battles against other factions. Perhaps there are tactics against specific factions you can tell me. Winning against elves seems to be impossible... demons and knights are also hard to fight and if I can't stand on the necro's vampires I even won't win against them. In most of the fights I only hope that the opponent makes a mistake. Otherwise a win is only possible if my equipment is much better than his equipment.
