I observed that people tend to attack a troop from behind. Is there evidence that this does more damage? Or just human instinctive behavior reflected in game. |
no extra damage it just looks better i think. |
It doesn't really do anything because the troops still turn around when being attacked. |
normally this has no impakt, one case to keep in mind is lizard cavalry, they ignore more defence (and thus do more damage) if they make a longer route.
this will also count for knight cavalry btw |
Against the AI, I sometimes attack from behind to prevent the troops from coming closer.
if the AI is more than is movement away from desired target it will kill the next most desireable while still moving closer to it's primary target.
So by moving behind it, I "give" it a desirable target directly behind it so it doesn't move closer.
Other then that, I'd say the only reason to attack from behind in PvP is get within range of another more desirable target. |
There are also certain trooops that attack multiple squares in one direction (sprites, hydra, etc.). If you have several troops on one side of the monster and want to avoid seeing them all get hit by a retaliation, you can attack from behind. |
6) good point, there's that as well :) |
