Well that's probably the best choice for faction level 0 i guess, though i would suggest you get something like 4 knowledge and 4 spellpower and work with holy magic talents ( far cheaper to use oblivion pot twice and melee artifacts rather than use caster artifacts for these )
+2 of course you would need magic guilds 2 and 3 for that to work :P

I tried full attack wiz and I did not like it. Damage output is too low.
Knight: 8 (1656.09) +1243.9
Necromancer: 3 (90.07) +69.9
Wizard: 0 (0.05) +19.9
Elf: 3 (90.63) +69.4
Barbarian: 3 (95.31) +64.7
Dark elf: 4 (164.82) +115.2
Demon: 3 (90.01) +70.0

for Kiz:

It's a lot better on level 11 than on level 8. Main advantages you get:

1) Sphynx Guardian
2) Stack of genies is very big at level 11, at level 8 you have 5 genies = by far the worst tier 5 creature in game at that level. After level 9 treasury it gets a lot better, and with triple mini artifacts it becomes one of the best tier 5 creatures.
3) Modern golems favor a melee build a lot, their unlimited retaliation pushes them a lot ahead of normal ones.

At level 8 you don't really have any strong physical damage units ( except maybe magi but cant rely on them cause of low hit points ). Later on you get a lot :)
