allowing qualified volunteers to help with game advancement

Authorallowing qualified volunteers to help with game advancement
This project runs off of donations and probably some volunteer work as I understand. Why not make it so members can actually volunteer to improve the code and artwork of the game? I do not think this is necessary, however I believe it is a way for the game to advance faster and cheaper. An example of this being done is the Open Office productivity suite. It is largely created by people who have proved their capability to write code and then studiously worked on the program. I do not believe the majority of the gaming population are adept programmers or artists, (I have seen at least one good artist on here) however a few helping hands might speed up the process. This may not be easy to set up, however if it is I would suggest at least giving it some thought. You might add the incentive of gold/resources/diamonds in return for help, though that is optional, as volunteer implies working without expectation of return.
Let us mess around with the game, as well as paying us gold and diamonds?
I think it's a great idea! I agree with traveler247_2.
I can help with artwork, if anything
well, it couldn't hurt

+1 to the idea
Personally I am a programmer (student) and writer (somewhat), though I don't do any internet programming languages (and know only a little html) I could move on to those within a year once I master my current language, C++. I am currently enjoying creating some fractal drawing software, and struggling with the burning ship fractal (Its taken up several hours of my time already... annoying, pretty little thing). If we were allowed to work on the game I think someone higher up in the staff would have to check the code at least a bit, (Its easier to check the code than write it I think) especially in the beginning. (Just to make sure we know what we're doing) This would also allow a few young programmers (such as myself) and artists (such as ReIncarnate) to get some practice in real world applications.

I'm glad I'm getting positive feed-back so far from the members. What does the staff think about letting some kids (mostly) help improve their game? I'd say to the staff that it might not help to have some people who play to game actively on the team to help in the detailed implementation of the suggestions made by the main body of the members of this site. Sorry if the ending of that last part didn't make sense, just read it a few times, lol.

for Traveler247_2:
well, unfortunately we already have a writer and he has been writing the story line for awhile
+
well then i would know who to blame when something went wrong
for misself: I really don't care as far as writing is concerned, just thought if I could help I might as well. I'm far more interested in helping on coding.

for lukeman: You'd blame me when somebody wrote bad code? not a bad idea actually, however if the testing is done properly (on both the programmers and the written code) then you should have very few instances of errors.

Also, earlier I miss wrote something. I meant to say:

I'd say to the staff that it can't hurt and will more than likely help to have some people who play to game actively on the team to help in the detailed implementation of the suggestions made by the main body of the members of this site.
