Authorboulders as protection
i sometimes like it when there are many scattered obstacles around the playing field, it gives another aspect to the strategy side of the game.

i was thinking why not randomly, as the boulders and such are now, have taller ones where if an enemy is place behind can't be hit by archers, magic would obviously not be protected against and certain archers could have the ability of "arched shot" or something along those lines where they can shoot over a barrier. it would be a nice aspect for people with magic to hide behind, or a troop that you dont want to use, or in 2v2 if you want to keep one guy alive to not lose your hero he can hide. not saying someone with magic or someone on foot couldn't come kill them but it would still be nice to throw into the mix to give the game more variety.

the only big problem i see with it would be giving more power to shrews to hide behind it so they can't get hit by archers and still doing there attacks.

any other problems with this idea other then just being a bad one in general?
well if you put your own archers behind them, then that would stop them being able to shoot, unless your archers had the 'arched shot' ability, in which case this would most likely make them overpowered as they cant be hit by any range

also, magi/lorekeeperes would still be able to hit (through shot)

also maybe mistresses, as the richoshade could come from a direction not blocked by the rock
but also, in whatever way this could be set up, it could all be an angle thing. if you cant hit someone move over a few spots and waste a turn, just like if someone hides behind a rock just out of reach from a melee opponent.

in a perfect world it wouldnt be the one safe haven on the board, it would be set up to use to make a turn or 2 (if you play it right) go your way, by making the other person waste a turn or by making them have to commit to coming into range.

this game is great because there is a lot of planning ahead and hoping the opposing player goes along with whats in you head. this would add a lot to that aspect.

i think by designating them to the the 4 center rows only in random format would make player need to leave the first rows to even benifit from them. this way (as boulders sometimes are) you wouldn't be able to set your archers or any creatures right behind them because they would be out of reach from the initial set up.
oh great, now some soldiers will now become invincible...
