AuthorGratitude for Poland
No defense shield for Poland :(

WW2 saw nobody come to Poland's defense :(

Why should we be thankful for Poland?
Poland saved Europe in the Battle of Vienna in 1683 and changed the world. Thank you Poland and God bless you!( no I'm not Polish)

I thought politics shouldn't be in forum, Since i am a kid, don't ban me :p

Gratz
Britain and France came to Poland's defence didn't they?
It's only because Germany used Blitzkrieg so Britain and France couldn't get there in time . . .
I think anyways.

I will have to read up on the early stages, you may be correct but as far as I am concerned this good nation gets shortchanged all the time and many owe a debt of gratitude. I feel bad about things concerning them and just felt like saying thank you. Not looking to do anything more than that and to make some aware of the heroic deeds in such a world changing event.

lol u didnt know how started WW2 ?
Poland is known not only for the Battle of Vienna, but for giving worldwide known scientists like Marie Curie and Copernicus, composers like Chopin, movie directors, producer, write and actors like Roman Polanski, great politicians (few of them got Nobel Prize) and even Pope John Paul II. Even if its history is not spanned on a long period (like Greece, Italy and so on), the contribution of Poland to the world history is incontestable.
ol u didnt know how started WW2 ?

Germany was being mean to some country and the allies didn't like that.
And also a political leader got shot i think

(my teacher actually said my history is very good except for one topic...WW1 & 2)
lol u didnt know how started WW2 ?

Uh yeah I know how it started and also how it ended but I doubt the thread would last if we got into that. Now run along son.
For the start of WW2: As far as i know, the german propaganda told the people that polish soldiers shot at german soldiers and that war is necessary. This were lies.

Poland is a beautiful country with a rich history.
This is to celebrate Poland. Dont get into anything else or they will close it. I would love to have a thread about WW2 but you know what would happen.
True this would be closed. So i have a lot of polish friends and its time to celebrate them. Wooohooo.
Britain and France came to Poland's defence didn't they?

No they didnt. Worlds strongest nations were just standing and looking how Germany took over Poland, France, Czechoslovakia(without a shot), Belgium, Denmark...

History books say invasion of Poland(1st september 1939) was the start of WW2. The invasion began after German soldiers(SS) in Polish uniforms had attacked German radio station. At least history says so.

And also a political leader got shot i think

Political leader shooting was involved in WW1. Assasination of Franz Ferdinand from Austro-Hungaria, then artillery attack on capital of Serbia.

So much for the history lesson. :-)
Im from Poland and I know history of my country, nice from Modi that he created this topic, but I dont think its a good place to post that

The best way is "no war" cause many ppl died, There are no winners and never will be...
Polish contributions to early America

The first Poles in North America came to the Jamestown Settlement in the Virginia Colony in 1608, twelve years before the Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts. These early settlers were brought as skilled artisans by the English soldier–adventurer Captain John Smith, and included a glass blower, a pitch and tar maker, a soap maker and a timberman. These skills were vital to the new settlement, which was evidenced when the House of Burgesses met in 1619. During their deliberations, the House excluded the Polish community and threatened their rights. In reaction, the Poles launched the first recorded strike in the New World. In need of their industries, the House of Burgesses extended the "rights of Englishmen" to the Poles (which included some East Prussians.) As a result, the Poles established the first bilingual schools in the New World, teaching both Polish and English, which later would be expanded to include Latin and German.
Wow! I'm impressed, Modi. Nice to find new things about world history (even if I am not Polish).
this inst new thing i know the battle of Vienna from long ago and also the 300 good canons was a lie the truth that the Turkish army had a lot of obstacles in the way especially floods that like 10% of their army were driven away and they abandoned their heavy canons on the way so they can move faster and only bring some light canons with them

It didn't say 300 heavy cannons, it said good or "working" cannons. All armies lose men in disasters on the road when they go to conquer. The Ottomans vastly outnumbered the opposing army, led by the Poles, and lost, marking the beginning of the end of their conquest of Europe.
