AuthorAuto-Join Group Hunts
If the admins wanted to "bring people together" using the auto join other hunts, they have failed with that.
Most of the players get a hard hunt, and they want to complete it. (With good arts, for example 1000 gold/battle).

The hunters get a hunt, and they want to beat it themselves. They know it will be hard, so they put on some arts.
They accept the hunt. And then...

You start with another hunter. (50/50 to be a noob or pro.)

You get really frustrated, but then you calm down. After 1 min, you see that your hunter partner isn't on top (I wont use any bad words). You then realize that he will loose, and leave over his monsters to you.

At that point, you will know that you will loose one hunt that you really wanted to complete but you didnt.

What's the consequences of this?
* You loose
* You get frustrated and use bad words, even if you are a rule-follower
* You always think that another group hunt will show up
* 10 mins of extra waiting for loosing
* You get a frustrated dude that makes a post at the forum

My suggestion
* To choose if you want to auto-join hunts
* Remove the auto-join, if the hunt is to hard for a player.

good suggestion. we should choose if we join or hunt alone.
join group hunt happens often against our will
it can make the hunt bad to both players instead of good things like fun hunting, good cooperation or making friends easily
I dunno, I got a joint hunt once with a player that was 1 level higher then me and, since he was a wizard, he handled most of the creatures, while I provided my undead troops as a (meat)wall and we made life easy for the both of us. But, then again, I also ended up with poor players a couple of times and we lost. I guess the admins are trying to increase player interaction a bit, since PvP is on the downside. But since this sort of fight doesn't happen a lot (at least not from what I've seen), I wouldn't say it's so bad, even if you do have a 50/50 chance of winning (rather then a bigger one if you were alone).
Maybe I'm missing some really bad experiences here or maybe I just take losing lighter (not to be taken as if it's ever my intention to do so), but I don't exactly agree with controlling every aspect of all the hunts. These joint hunts only spice up this game and removing them would be counterproductive. About making them optional... then noone would leave the option on, at least none of the "good" players and those that would want to leave it on would become scared of ending up with a "not-so-good" player, because those are the only ones that keep the option turned on; this would lead to almost removing it altogether from the game, so it's not such a good idea either.

From my point of view, I have to give this idea:

What if the admins maked the group hunts funnier?

For example:

I get a hunt with 400 farmers = Not so hard hunt, but still very funny to do :D

And my hunt partner get also 400 farmers = Not so hard for him, and probably a joy for him to complete :)

That will make both sides happy.

An example of a bad situation:

I get a hunt, and I want to beat it myself. I want to beat my old record. And I'm sure I will win it by strategies.

Another hunter comes up, doing the hunt hunt just like that. He's not doing it to have fun in the game. He gets zombies = easy but slow-to-kill mobs.

That hunter (I don't mean every hunter now) will probably loose, and the remaining zombies will make me loose.


I don't know a good solution to this, but maybe if someone have an idea.

Personally, I want to keep this group hunts, if it improves.
I mostly get this group hunt when i already have a challenge. What angers me the most is when enemy mobs are fitting together making their combo even harder to beat!

F.example one time i fought 70 magi as barb lvl9 (threat medium) then a group hunt opens and i see a lvl 8 necro has joined with 16! angels.

so i had to fight angels and magi (both were positioned in front of me) and that necro failed to do anything he totally sucked so we lost.

This is no good feature... absolutely useless. It ruins huntrecords attempts, Time, Fun and brings a lot of aggression.

This is a good feature. It allows players more interactions, and more importantly, when you win, the amount of creatures doesn't increase (more hunter guild points).

What might be nice tho, is that while it says "XXX flee" or whatever, you have an option that comes up "let them go" so you stop chasing them and just let the hunt go if you do not wish to fight it.

Here's another idea: why not make auto-joining only possible withing the same Military Clan? So if you do get a teammate, you're sure he's from your Military Clan, maybe someone you know and can rely on. And those who aren't in such a clan can group up between themselves. This way the feature remains - some hunts get grouped up - but there's a big chance of ending up with someone you know. What do you guys think?

It would been fun if you team up with a guy you know.
Is it just me or do you too get a "taking to their heels message" only when the hunt is green or more dificult? The last 5 merged attempts I got with green hunts.
a big fat mistake the grouphunt is...
recently my fight: lvl[9] knight, me [10] DE vs Angels (23), Minotaur soldiers (313)

i was worrying to accept the hunt with the Mino soldiers, since their increased moral can make surprises... accepted, auto-joined... everything on shrews... asked my partner to move griffs 1 tile fwd, so my shrews can seek refuge 1 turn behind them... but nooo, he attacked and wasted all griffs... lost battle...
everything bad in this fight happened...

opinion for difficulty: a player who changed faction, and recent rule changes (2009 nov, dec) making any faction weaker, and the top3 hunters making records with ench weapons makes the whole difficulty indicator is a piece of bio material output...
