You asked for the battle and the assistance. Therefore you have already decided to engage the enemy. If you're so unsure of your ability to get assistance, then skip it.

So you're telling people that the monsters' are not permitted to attack you after you declared war on them, and that they should be the sitting ducks awaiting slaughter. Thats really amusing.
