Who says gay is an offensive word? (It is not.)
It is not some kind of profanity.
19th and earlier 20th century story uses that word.
Example:
"The boys played around gaily."
There is nothing wrong with this sentence and I have no idea why I am typing this.

Blah, blah, blah, story time....
blah, blah, blah, the princess and the prince have a gay marriage and live gaily ever after.
