'Cause you flip through Help looking for something, and not finding what you're after you post in the forum....
And then someone replies with a link to a section which makes you wonder how the hell you missed it earlier.
Half the topics in Queries and Hep get answered by links to the Help section; a search feature could avoid this and make gameplay easier. |

Yes, but it's a forum search link, he wants an 'about the game' search link.
But there is a way. Google makes it possible to search a specific site. When using the forum search, it is [the words you want to search] followed by site:www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php. To make it search the help and sections part of the forum, simply replace site:www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php with site:www.lordswm.com/help.php

When have you EVER gone to all that length to find the answer to a question here?
I was thinking something more along the lines of the search function that you get in the "Help Topics" sections of most GUI softwares - the ones that show results right next to the main page in a sidebar. Easy navigation and instant results. |

| Ctrl+F doesn't do much in the Help; since it can only you the links on the left-side bar or whatever section you've currently opened. Also, much of the Help (especially Faction-wise help and FAQ etc.) is in the forum. You'd need to put it all in one place/page for Ctrl+F to do anything even remotely efficient. |
| Forum search actually finds the reference in ANY forum part. Its not perfect but quite helpful. |

well, yeah - crtl+f is helpful only when you know what you are looking for, can't argue with this :).
most of the nooby questions you can always ask at the MC forum\chat, thus to ask them you need to be comparatively high lvl to enter the MC :) such a dilemma.
as for 'about the game\rules' feat, the items are logically sorted (more or less). |
