Thought I combine my love for the game and dogs, and start a little thread for all dog owners to share views, experiences and tips/advice with each other :) |
Currently in possesion of two beautiful Border Collies and one Red Cloud Kelpie x Doberman,
Best dogs in the world. |
I got a Golden Retriever puppy about 2 months back, having a bit of problems being a noob owner.
Does anybody know why my dog's belly and underarms are turning reddish? |
Well, "nice" topic's title.
What about my dog - you can find it's photo in my photoalbum :P |
I have a Dog de Bordeaux x American Bulldog... she's one year and nine months old.
To answer your question Dionysus... my dog had the same thing when she was little... most of the time it's an innocent irritation and it's caused by grass and other plants rubbing his/her belly while walking your pup because their so little.
If you think it's bothers your pup you can get some ointment from your vet. |
angel: thanks but i've read that most, if not all, prescriptions from the vet contains steroids which is supposedly extremely bad for dogs, especially pups
i bought a tea tree natural soothing cream but am not sure if it's contact allergy, his food or any other weird stuff. i also read matting might be a possible cause? |
you can ask a homeopathic vet for some advice... there are lots of possibilities some dogs (like mine) even are allergic to a tree or something when they inhale the anther dust of it.
if you wanna know exactly where your pup is allergic to you'll have to let a vet take some tests... |
problem's there are no such vets where i reside :( i suppose i could bring bruno (my dog) to the vet but i'm just concerned if they start prescribing stuff |
yuri: that's a cute dog, lol, is it really yours? |

Yes, it is. But that photo was made a yer ago, now it isn't a pappy, it is a dog which like to walk on the fresh air, eat, again walk, eat and sleep :P |
yuri: is that a labrador? |
for Dionysus:
Yes, you are right. |
yuri: what do you feed it? commercial dog food or a raw diet? you must be living on a large land, countryside i believe? |
for Dionysus:
I feed it with commercial special dog food (even that i don't trust it at all), sometimes, i add to its daily ration meat.

No, i live in a small (450k people) egologically-clear (without any plants or factories) town near the lake, but i have possability to go with my dog on countyside house often. |
Some of our family friends used to feed their dog only scarps of what they used to eat and they used to cook thier own oragnic food every night (No fast food or junk) and their dog lived fairly healthily for 22 years, just goes to show what you feed them affects them majorly.
Unfortunatly I don't always have the time to do the same but i try my best. |
small (450k people)
!!! Wow small? our nearest city has 1.7 mil and thats huge!! (4 Hours drive away) we have 5k people here and we think we are a pretty big town |

First of all, as you said, there a lot of cities with more that 1 mil. people (i won't even say anything about megapolises), so 450k-population can be counted like a small, and second - there aren't any plants or factories, huge corporaions, important trade points and etc. |
17+
there aren't any plants or factories, huge corporaions, important trade points and etc in our town. |
Yuri: what brand of commercial food you using? I've recently started to switch to Orijen, read that it's good |
for Dionysus:
Sorry, i don't know well brands which are used in other parts of the world. And i am afraid you don't know Russian brands (i use them) too - no sense in writing them here. |
