Stratego / Memory

AuthorStratego / Memory
this will probably get a lot of -1's, but I want to share this with you anyway, just for the fun of it...

PvP - Stratego-style
--------------------
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratego )

you can see your own units' ID's and stack amounts, but not those of your opponents. you can only see where your opponents has stacks, not which ones and how many.

when you attack, the opponents' stack gets 'uncovered', so you can see which unit (and stack amount) you're attacking (opponent also sees the attacker's unit). after the attack, the opponents' unit gets 'covered' again (or, 'turned around', like in Stratego).

my idea is mostly about the 'blindness' aspect, but the bombs, spies and flags of Stratego could also be included...?

seems like a nice idea (got me enthousiastic enough to post it here) but it has a couple of weak spots:

- the large creatures, which can be identified easily.
- the sounds of the units, which give away the ID's
- the movements, attacks, and spells of the units, see above
- other?

a counter argument to those weak spots could be that, yes, units can be identified easily, but you still have to memorize where they are...

so in the end, I might as well call it a Memory-variation...
This can be included for events such as New Year, April Fool's, Anniversary etc... otherwise, it seems to me that this feature would be too radically different from the present battle system to be meaningfully combined with the status quo.
