Stock Exchange

AuthorStock Exchange
does anyone here do anything with stocks? I've got a project in school where I get $50k of fake money, and I have 2-3 weeks to do stock exchange with it. there is no punishment or negative effect on my grade if i lose all the money, but I'd still like to make some $$, does anyone here do anything with the stock market? any suggestions on what i should do with the $50k? I'm not really an expert on this so I was just thinking maybe somebody here is familiar with it, by the way I can only buy stocks that cost $5 or more. I can use the NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges.

i'm not asking to do homework for me, since it doesn't matter if i lose money or gain any, but i'd just like to get a couple of advices or thoughts on this topic.
and please if you're not gonna help, just don't bother flooding the page with unrelated posts.
Since the money involved is not real, it helps to take a high risk, high reward approach if you aim to obtain the highest return possible.

Buy highly traded and low-priced stocks which are high profile at the moment, preferably technology and internet stocks. Avoid high market capitalization companies, ie large companies with well-known brands, because these companies stock prices are pretty steady. What you want are stocks with very volatile price changes.

The aim with this strategy is to win big, but there is also a good chance that you will lose big as well.

Of course, in real life, you don't do stupid things like this since this is essentially high-stakes gambling.
I disagree. Even if the money is not real you must treat it as real otherwise you learn nothing. The trick is to predict the future. Short term and long term. Short term investing means looking at the current trend and predicting who will make the move. Long term investing means predicting what the future trend is.

You have to be updated on news, rumors and everything that is business related. I'm only familiar with my country's stock exchange. I'll try to look at the NYSE and NASDAQ later and offer some advice.
Thank you
