I think this has been suggested before and so, but I'm still going to suggest it:
Merchants Guild (or such). It would be another alternative to Thieves Guild and Rangers Guild. Merchants Guilds progression/tasks would involve a lot of travelling around the map. Maybe to have people transfer resources/products around the game world? The primary point is to create a fun RPG-cycle:
Thieves would have more people to rob.
Rangers could co-operate with Merchants.
Merchants could 'fund' Rangers.
Etc.
And most of all, people would have something more to do in the lower levels.
As it is, Thieves Guild >>>>>>>> Rangers Guild, so there's basicly one good option.
Also, having merchants do little tasks around the map would stabilize the factories, so there wouldn't be tons of resources waiting to be used.
There would be more 'economical' features in this game, which would be handy for people who don't necessarily want to play PvE/PvP all the time (fights can be rather time-consuming).
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if something like this would be scheduled already (I saw a mention somewhere about new guilds being planned).

Definitely +1 | Extra-defense (like in LG) or maybe simple bonus parameters would make the most sense theme-wise, but extra initiative would maybe be the best option to keep Thieves, Rangers and Merchants Guild balanced. :P | Definitely +1 | Just realized that the guild would have to involve some sort of EXP/FSP gains as well to not make it something people use to camp and collect attributes in the low levels.
Maybe Merchants would simply be targeted more often by thieves? So the plan could be this:
Merchants carry/acquire products around the map to recieve small wages and get guild points.
Merchants could co-operate with Rangers to keep their routes safer. Maybe having a ranger to go alongside with the Merchant would be a possibility.
Ambushing Merchant would be much more likely and rewarding. So Merchants would have to fight occasionally in PvP (or PvE, like in those Mercenaries Quests) and they'd get exp/fsp every now and then. | nice idea +1 | really nice!

but I think it could be +1 guild not like thief vs ranger
but all other is really nice idea. even the thiefs caughts them more likely.
