Hey, and sorry if it seems like I flood the Forum, but these questions just came to my mind suddendly and I dont use the Forum too often, and now I felt like it.
Anyway, straight to the point: Is anyone else noticing a small racism from Russian players to english speaking ones? Its like they order you things and you get insulted for it if you dont do it, maybe because you think its playing too aggresive or whatever.
I dont know if the question is whether ACTUALLY there is this kind of racism Im mentioning here, or its just the lack maturity of certain players, what do you think?
I thought all players above Lv7 could be described as "Mature", since I doubt any kids prefer this kind of game and it takes time to reach Lv7. I know the "I dont think kids play this" statement may seem VERY retarded, but its what I think, correct me or give me your opinion if you dont think so.
It also happens that Russian players choose to attack the english speaker in Everyone For Oneself very often, but I guess thats not a big deal, Napoleon invented Nationalism for wars, as I read somewhere here in the Forum long time ago.
And btw: I wrote this since I dont see any psychology/teamplaying/teamwork/whatever related threads, and this dilemma just came to me.
The disrespect is just happening too often so thats why I write, and Im sorry if the topic of the thread is offensive, I dont mean to.
Ah, and tell me if this kind of thread shouldnt be in General game Forum, I rarely write here so I dont know honestly.

Well for one its not racism, its just Russians hating anyone not Russian. Call it ignorance, or just that they want to be a douche bag, but its not racism.
But yes, I have noticed some Russians who are, frankly, dicks.

as you points out, rare children at high level.
And I think some children come to some level high(around 13). | Sure they are some bad apples among the good ones but we shouldn't judge the whole community just because of that several bad ones.. Along the way you'll definitely meet various players of different personality but bottom line most russians i met are friendly and willing to communicate.
There was one particular incident in an event battles (pretty low lv ones, like lv 3 or 4) where one of my russian partner "demanded" that I speak Russian, as it being their "mother tongue" but apart from that most Russians I've met actually attempt to communicate and some even to the extend of using translators (hopefully not Google translate). Some even tried to translate their local jokes and yes it sounded awful and hilarious (not the joke of course) but it's the thought that counts!

Not only the russians. I noticed it even on the old .com server.

Sometimes I noticed it too, but the very truth is I've noticed it on almost all games I've played before. North Americans insulting South Americans, Europeans and Asians disliking each other, Brazilians hating spanish talkers and vice versa, etc. The world is weird.

I think yes. | Back when I played with a low level account on .ru server, I had similar problems.
Now with high level main, it's much better. I'd say I still meet more offensive Russians than I wish there were but perhaps any minority would feel like that in an average foreign community? As mentionned above, of course, there are nice and polite Russian players too.
Not that I really care though, it's usually more pathetic than anything IMO. | To be honest, I've not really come across any such abuse. Yeah they do get annoyed when you play not as per them, but I've had so many Russians giving me a personal "Thank you for battle", after a good game, even in those where they get whooped.
Immature gamers exist in both communities, just that I think .ru takes it's game much more seriously. We got more casual gamers in .com. |
