It seems the AI was wearing an enchanted Demonic Soldier set (unlucky for you). The set gives the following bonus:
+1 SP +1 KN
20% piercing through fire resistances to the character
+10% extra damage as fire damage to Lords' troops
+15% damage bonus to Lord's and troops' Fire spells
+30% efficiency of "Gating" racial ability
Lord learns "Fireball" at Expert chaos magic level |
