Has anyone else noticed that the deserters operate on a very complex logic?
Their ability to run away only triggers if the attack is likely to seriously harm the stack unless it is an auto miss or auto hit (as ghosts). They will let the single bandit hit them, but will run away from the big stack of lizards. Every. Single. Time.
Damn these cowardly sons of ......

Side note: any ideas on beating mission 23 without wreckers? | I was about to say wreckers do them everytime byt of well...
The ability sure is annoying, take some other troops which have elemental damage spells maybe?
I was able to land hits with big troops as well, although the misses can be devastating, and it is not like ghosts certainly, I’ve had 3 misses in a row I’m pretty sure | I think the solution to deserters is to fight them last. They don't deal major damage, unlike ghosts. | Yes, but the only elemental damage I have is incendiaries and I do go for them last. Doesn’t work when they dodge 2 of 3 attacks by my killer stack each time. |
