effects of enchants?

Authoreffects of enchants?
I've never understood how enchants really work. For example, "earth spell damage 10%", "air spell shield 5%", or "ignore fire spell shield 8%", etc. What exactly do they mean? Any link for such information?
earth spell damage increases meteor, earthen spike damage.
fire spell damage increases fireball
air is lightning chain lightning etc

ignore fire shield ignores fire immunity on units like punishers ascetics etc.
So if I'm an attack-build hero with no spell/knowledge, these spell damage kinds of enchants do not help at all then?

Correct. Weapon enchants would be pointless but it would still be useful to take armor enchants
Elemental at least. The Ignore defense enchant would still be useful for full might builds
i feel i need to clarify.

weapon enchants( weapon, dagger, bow) all increase damage output of might builds,

jewelry such as cloaks rings and ammys increase spell damage for mages

armor enchants protect from elemental damage such as spells and certian unit abilites like searing aura fire wall etc
Ah I misunderstood the wording on the weapon enchants.

Correction. Jewelry enchants would be pointless

Some weapon enchant says "extra damage with air magic 5%". So does this extra damage actually apply to my troops melee or shooting damage as well, or is it only for magic damages?

I do notice jewelry enchants are like "fire magic spell damage bonus 5%, ignore water shield 5%". They indeed read like only benefit mages.

armor enchants protect from elemental damage such as spells and certian unit abilites like searing aura fire wall etc

There appear to be two kinds of enchants to armors. One reads "water magic shield 5%" and appears to shield from water magic damages. The other reads "decrease attack of charging stack 5%", so would this enchant protect from melee or shooting damages?

for physical attackers this decreases their attack,

yes, it adds elemental damage to your regular damage damage. similar to cold blade, dagger of flame and sword of cold
for slayerofall:

Thanks a lot for the information.

if you click on one of my units and go to effects it will list:
Ignore defence 31.9% added damage with earth magic 31.9% and so on. All of those are multiplicative damage increases stacking on top of each other and damage bonuses via archery, expert offense retribution %damage increase from gear(bows daggers weapons)

that is why you see a stack of 110 gob archers doing 7-10k damage
I see. So you had 3 enchants. Two of them had +10% earth damage and one of them had +9% earth damage.
1.1*1.1*1.09=1.319
That's how you get the +31.9% earth damage.
Now you have 4 elemental damages, each +31.9%.
So 1.319^4 = 3.026
That is, you get almost 3 times of your normal damage.
not sure how the math adds up but 31.9% is with 3 weapons with 12% enchant buffs
ok i know how the math works.

100x1.12=112 for a 12% damage gain
200 is theoretical double damage which im guessing they dont want to be reached so they have diminishing returns
200-112 is 88 x 12% is 10.56+112 is 122.56
200-122.56 is 77.44 x 12% is 9.2928+122.56 is 131.8528 rounded up to 31.9% damage increase which is confirmed because i just did a hunt with 3 5x12 weapons and it was 31.9% increase
Gee. The calculation is much more complicated than I thought then. :-D
