| I saw some of these forum posts so Im doing my own, I live in Beirut, the city you might be seeing in some news headlines today with the war going on, ask me anything !( as long as it's not based on politics or religion); so not exactly anything... just ask me some stuff I suppose | | Is it safe to travel to beriut for tourism | Hope you are okay and stay safe. Not anytime soon I wouldn't recommend, daily airstrikes for the past few months plus a recon drone buzzing overhead in tandem, any other time, BEAUTIFUL place to visit

I was a resident DJ in a few gin rooms in Beirut jamming house music and jazz; now I'm back in Law school to finally finish my degree, almost done with that

Beirut has been under daily airstrikes like I said before, it's been really rough, the suburbs have been evacuated since thats the main focus of the strikes for political reasons I wont get into; theres a massive internal refugee crisis from all over the country.

Seems like a terrible situation with endless despair. We're too spoiled and comfortable here and cannot comprehend how people live with this reality one day after another (mainly speaking for myself). All we have for our perspective is those videos people post, but there's still a part of me that thinks it's all too terrible to be real. I had a conversation with a coworker, a doctor in training, who immigrated to the States about 6 years ago from one of your nearby countries in the Middle East. Something he said to me last week which I cannot forget is how the government in his home country is more dangerous than all the serial killers combined. Based on how many people are reported to be dead, it is very true, and nobody can refute it. We also talked about how people quickly become desensitized to the genocidal actions of their government and even condone them. Sorry, if this is not what you wanted to hear. I just wanted to share a few things from my end. Hope you stay safe. Welcome back to the game, and keep in touch.

That is terrifying to hear, hope you stay safe man! One of my friend is also in Beirut right now, its actually very horrible. I feel for you. | no offense taken! I can take a joke, wait till you hear the jokes we make here with each other; humor is a great coping mechanism ;)

^ we know, your friend has a point, and he isnt the only one that feels this way thats for sure, not everyone is blindsided by what goes on behind the scenes, but most of them are helpless for sure.
people quickly become desensitized
you'd be surprised how many of us are desensitized over here already, and the ceasefire is almost one hour and a half away, every minute feels pretty long.
I hope this doesn't end up becoming a memoir to be remembered if I go offline for sometime.
