AuthorIncrease CG unit counts based on matchup
In EOFO CG battles, some factions are given unit multipliers to compensate for the fact that the likelihood of winning changes depending on the faction.

My opinion is that these multipliers should also be added to other CG battles. The multipliers would depend on the matchup - for example, shadow barbarians are known to struggle against mage dark elves, so the multiplier for shadow barbarians should be high in this matchup. In battles with more than two combatants, the multiplier would ideally take into account all of the factions in the battle. (This may be too difficult in mixed, but it should be possible in 2v2s and duels. At the very least, one can treat a 2v2 as two sets of duels.)

There are two main reasons for recommending this change:

1) It would increase faction variety. While it's true that some factions are inherently less popular then others, it's also true that some factions are unplayed simply because they have impossible matchups. A good example is shadow barbarian at levels above 18, because it gets defeated instantly by any mage dark elf. This effect is worse at higher levels (22+): for various reasons, the main factions played are mage dark elf and darkness demon.

2) It would lead to fewer "instant" losses. Some popular matchups are almost certainly lost for one side - one example is pure offense elf versus mage dark elf at higher levels. The elf is able to win easily since it does not bother with defence. Of course, these elves are not so popular because other opponents exist, but the point is that it would be nice if the mage dark elf player did not have to feel that the matchup is completely lost right even before the battle begins. With a multiplier, the matchup would be a lot more interesting, which should improve the battle quality. (Of course the elf would be disappointed in not having a free win, but, on the other hand, the benefit for the elf is that it would get the bonus multiplier when it faces opponents that it is weak against, such as darkness demon.)

There should be wealth of information from past battles that can be used to determine whether one faction should get a bonus when facing other particular factions. And even if there isn't, like with EOFOs, the multiplier can be modified based on recent performances.

I understand that this seems like a big change, but I think that in the end, it would make CG battles a lot more popular.
