LordsWM on mobile devices - Open discussion

AuthorLordsWM on mobile devices - Open discussion
This topic is designed for discussing mobile devices and ways to enable Flash support on them. Please note that I am no expert of mobile industry, and the tests we've made were also on available devices plus some web research. The first post in this topic may and hopefully will be modified as more info is collected and new significant changes appear on the subject.

By now we've tested enrolling, combats and two towers on several OS, their different versions and browsers for compatibility with ShockwaveŽ Flash, and based on that, we considered the most optimal choice to be "Puffin browser" (and its "Free" version, which is in fact trial version).
http://www.puffinbrowser.com/index.php
Or available in Google Play Market (Android) / App store (Apple devices).

Puffin free is a 14 days trial version. The trial may be extended by another 14 days several times by sharing a code which is loaded for copying every time the Puffin Free starts. By using the code and installing Puffin free on your device, you will also get extra 14 days of trial, so please check this topic for any available codes, you could both benefit from it.
If you decide to purchase the full version, on Android it is sometimes required to uninstall the free application and erase all preferences. I do not know when exactly that is required, so I recommend it for everyone (just visit Settings -> Applications (Android only).

Alternatively, it is possible to install Flash as a standalone application to then use it in other browsers.
Flash Player is compatible with the default "Internet" browser, mobile Firefox, Dolphin Browser, Boat Browser (Android Ice Cream Sandwich and above (4.x)).
To install Flash, you will need to enable installing from unofficial sources. For this, go Settings -> Security -> Unknown sources (check the check box).
You will also need to select the Flash version compatible with your Android system version.
Here are some:
ARMv6 Android (processor under 800 MHz): http://dcdn.heroeswm.ru/android_flash/flashplayer_arm6.apk
Android Eclair <-> Honeycomb (2.x - 3.x): http://dcdn.heroeswm.ru/android_flash/flashplayer_android23.apk
Android Ice Cream Sandwich <-> Jelly Bean (4.x): http://dcdn.heroeswm.ru/android_flash/flashplayer_android4.apk

So far, we have not found any ways to play LordsWM on Symbian and Windows Phone 8. We will keep watching if those systems implement Flash support at some point.
so this means i can play lordswm even on gingerbread.? (2.3.6) through puffin.?
That is true, and even not only on Puffin. I have personally played on Dolphin long time before upgrading to Ice cream sandwich, but I suppose, you would have to reject Dolphin updates for it to be stable.
Although, Dolphin is sometimes glitchy with on-screen keyboard makingbit hard to enroll in time. Puffin's keyboard is turned on anytime at will, so that might be more stressless for enrolling.
Is there any particular reason ,as to why the puffin browser is considered optimal by the team? better performance for combats, low memory usage etc..?

Because as far as I am concerned , I can easily use firefox with added flash support to play/enroll from mobile.

My point is, why spend money to buy a product or spend time to renew free trial if other similar alternative is available?

PS : I am not against using puffin..
Answer is, Operativity =)

LordsWM uses much more memory through flash than an average flash-based game. When you are in combats or card games with other players, there's also a timer attached.
Certain browsers may make it very challenging to adequatly participate in a group combat etc, and we've found that in terms of speed and operative stability, puffin is preferable.

I will say repeat that I'm posting only as much as I've researched, and everyone is welcome to add any more info, including personal experience.

PS: I am not promoting the purchase of Puffin =P
Well is there something for symbian OS

Sorry for double post

I can easily enroll through my symbian phone but i cant battle.
for Stupefy:
Yes and after successful installation you can play combats and do enrolls with the flash enable browsers.

I had player using Dolphin although but for pvp you need good connection .

for barbmaster:
Symbian do support enrolls but cannot play combats.
i have installed that 4.5 MB file..now what.?
just install and enjoy playing :)
Flash Player is compatible with the default "Internet" browser, mobile Firefox, Dolphin Browser, Boat Browser (Android Ice Cream Sandwich and above (4.x)).

Open lordswm with one of the browser and you can enjoy the flash.
Ohh yeah.!

Just enrolled for the first time through phone

Thnk u arctic and murali..it actually works..:D
ARMV6 android users have not much choice and puffin is definitely the best. for ARMV7 devices u have lots n lots of choices but puffin s much better cos wit flash add-on the browser also holds much internal space
ARMV6 android users have not much choice and puffin is definitely the best. for ARMV7 devices u have lots n lots of choices but puffin s much better cos wit flash add-on the browser also holds much internal space moreover flash support package taking much totally almost 22 MB which quite high while puffin takes just barely takes 900kb. moreover due to the recent probs between apple and adobe companies most of the companies have stopped th eir supporr for flash including google. so most of the browsers have also removed their flash support in recent versions (kernal ones). so those who prefer other browsers have to opt for mod versions. hats off to puffin team for their support cos thr r many things and truths i cant say in open discussion here. n sorry for double post. last post posted by miss clicke
Haven't used puffin but been playing on android with the default browser; with flash. Good for PvE upto thieving but the pvps take too long to load.
Ok, finally topic for me.

i have tested lwm on 15 different browsers (android 4.2.2) and here are results:

Prerequisites:

Android 4.2.2 blocks Flash by blocking some instructions in your mobile CPU. This changes everything common in androids < 4.2.2

Google things:
Android native browser - blocked
Chrome - blocked (as it is Google thing)

Other not working:
Opera (classic, mini, mobile, beta) - gray box on flash place
Doplhin,Ocean,Boat - not displaying anything
Maxton, easy browser - gray box on flash place

Working:
Firefox - works. but consume more memory than usual. Mobiles with 1GB ram and more good. But!!! crashes on lwm flashes - due to lower quality of programmers' work
Firefox beta - works, but lwm flash uses different character set (iso-8859-1) which is not supproted (only utf8). Therefore you will see boxes instead of characters in flash things.
Puffin - works. but has much lower quality of flash and is a bit more user unfriendly than others.

To Arctic: Can do more tests if needed bro...
Opera (classic, mini, mobile, beta) - gray box on flash place
it works for me on opera classic. Biggest advantage is that at first it is a gray box with this triangle on it and the flash only loads when you click on the triangle. Thus if you want to enroll and go to the map first, the map is not loaded until you click it. Which makes the entire thing a lot faster on the mobile.
for any mobile device in-build browser is the best one. i have installed flash as given in the above link and i can play LWM on my mobile. i am using Samsung galaxy s duo (android :ICS). its been 4 months i don't have any problem even though RAM is less than 1 GB.
for Sven91:
Depends on the Android version as mentioned before. 4.2.2 doesn't work, ICS work and even JB version 4.1.x works.

for Topseh:
same as Sven91
