no, it is 0,1

after 10 battles its 0.80 then 0.60 => 0.40 => 0.20 => 0.10 and it will stay there

but it also got an advantage, when those leather facilities in YL only have 90 gold on their balance, you can still enroll :D
I've been at the .1 penalty at least a handful of times.

But that is usually when I'm too busy with work, to do combat, so I don't mind.

Some gold is better than no gold ;)

But when I have time to play a bit, even at level 14, I don't run into the labor penalty beyond .8 too often.

So it shouldn't be a problem for anyone...unless you're not playing the game.
IMO, the "Workaholic Penalty" and "AP Requirements" are just indicators that the Game Admins may be avid online gamers themselves.

All experienced online gamers should be aware of the "Gold Farming" phenomenom. Wikipedia even has an article on it, for heavens sake.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_farming

There are lots of things in online games that could be sold for large amounts of IRL money. However, LWM has many rules that make it essentially worthless to try and transfer Gold or rare items to other characters in exchange for IRL money.

So the only likely saleable commodity in LWM are the characters themselves. The ongoing spate of attempts to "sell" characters and scam others out of their characters should make this self-evident. It shows that many people view LWM characters as commodities to be bought and sold, and will cheerfully cheat someone out of their hard-earned character if it is at all possible. And I imagine the most potentially valuable characters are those of low combat level, but with vast reserves of Gold, Rare Items (like Estates), and high Faction and Guild levels. Such a character would allow a potential purchaser to gain great prestige as they easily break previous hunting records and achieve extra-ordinary results in tournaments, compared to other characters that don't have such advantages.

Do the attributes of such a saleable character sound familiar to anyone? Low combat level, high Faction levels, high Guild levels and vast reserves of Gold. Doesn't that sound exactly like the oft mentioned Ethereality and similar characters? That's not to say that those particular characters were created with the sole purpose of being sold, but it is certainly a possibility.

So how would the Admins combat such a problem? Well, they'd introduce measures that would stop players from simply sitting online all day and enrolling for gold (coincidentally draining a facility's gold balance away and making it hard for others to enroll). They'd try and prevent them from playing endless battles and deliberately losing simply to get ridiculously high Faction levels for relatively low combat levels (the "Minimum AP" rule also contributes to preventing these problems). And particularly they'd try and find solutions that would stop both of these occurences. Can anyone think of a solution to such problems? A solution that may already have been implemented by the Game Admins themselves, for example? In fact, doesn't this sound *exactly* like what the "Workaholic Penalty" is intended to achieve?

I'm sure that the Admins want this game to be enjoyable for as many people as possible. And one of those factors is that most people don't want to see others surpassing them simply because they have spent more money than anyone else to buy a character that easily outperforms others who have spent many hours trying to make a good character through their own efforts.

In this game, anyone can enjoy *all* the features of the game. It may take a lot longer if you don't want to donate for diamonds, but anyone can enjoy the power of Shrews, or EFKs, or become a member of the Thieves Guild, or any number of other "Upgrades" that would *only* be available to paying players in most other games.

IMO almost all of the changes to this game by the Admins have been to try and protect the enjoyable gaming experience for as large a number of players as possible. Many players don't even notice that the "Workaholic Penalty" exists. Certainly anyone who is aware of it can easily avoid it with even a few combats a day. And do you really think you would enjoy it more if the workaholic penalty weren't there, and you were surpassed by some rich player, simply because they paid someone to make an Uber-character for them?

I mean if the Admins really wanted over-powered characters to be readily available, they could simply offer custom characters, for sale to the highest bidder, like a lot of other games do. At least that way the game developers would be earning the money, rather than the Gold Farmers. Is that the sort of thing you would prefer? I know I wouldn't.
