It is all in the air, because we DO NOT have a TGI market price! One or two TGI's from once in a while do not make a market!
We have however a black market for TGIs: a couple of individuals who are shifting TGI's around and artificially raising their price.
My answer is not an official answer, but rather just trying to reason logically: you are safe as long as the seller's price is not less than 23.08% of the one which appears on the black market, since the difference could be very well considered gift, once you give him the money for the TGI.
Here is the math computation of where the 23.08% comes from:
Assume the black market price is 'b', and assume that you pay a percent 'x'. So you pay x*b/100 for a TGI.
You have to make sure that the difference between the black market TGI and what you pay is less than 30% of the wealth of the seller. Assuming the seller was dead broke before you buy the TGI from him, his current wealth will be exactly what you pay for the TGI, i.e., x*b/100
The equation becomes:
x*b/100 * 30% <= b - x*b/100
You solve this equation and you get x <= 100/1.3 = 76.92%
Hence the difference between the black market TGI and what you pay for a TGI should not be less than 23.08% of the black market TGI.
(Of course, if he is much richer than that, he can even gift you the whole TGI for free. The only challenge there is to find such generosity...:P) |
PS: Notice that never in the computation did I consider how much the price of the black market TGI was. So this computation is valid for any item sold between two players:
Assuming the seller is dead broke, he can not sell a product/item less than 23.08% cheaper than the average market price of that product/item.
(Of course, if he is richer, then he can sell it cheaper, you just have to plug in the equation his current wealth, and get the exact percentage) |

So what is the wealth that u are referring to? (The amount of gold he has?)

The left hand side of the equation is supposed to be 30% of the sellers' current wealth (monetary property). I assumed he was dead broke, so his "current" wealth would be exactly the counter-cost of the TGI you are buying from him. And take 30% of that.
If he initially had a certain wealth, call it 'w', then the left hand side of the equation would become
(x*b/100 + w) * 30/100

The really sad thing is, that if he took the time to look at the character making the offer, he would have noticed that the guy only has around 700K.
So really, he couldn't honestly offer much more than that. I doubt coolahed was concerned with that. He was probably more interested in maintaining high TGI prices to cash in on the reselling market.

Seems that coolahed wants the TGI to be sold at 1.7 mil which a bit expensive. One who buys at that price would have burnt a gigantic hole in his pocket down to his underwear unless he is freaking rich.
