Theories:
Someone (of us) killed a potential suspect for interrogation. Could be the battle linked in the story between Vomper and Dreadbanes, or could be something else. Also sounds as if our territories have been invaded both by "short ones" as well as fiery beings. Somehow they slipped past the stronghold at Seraph's Tears.

| Good catch! It would seem as if events are imminent. There also continues to be a theme of distrust between the military forces and the nobility (us). I get the sense that the military commanders feel we need to be whipped into shape and brought under their command. |
Maybe Councilor Kalirosh is trying to lead a revolt against the Empress. In many occasions the naration referred to Kalirosh as the *ex-Warlord*, while it was precisely the *ex-Warlords* those who were discontent and menacing raising against the Empress.
What if those letters were sent to Kalirosh's generals to ready their armies, etc, and the only one to Feurlis whose secrecy was paramount, was to try to rally the necro to raise against the Empress, as the last defender of thy Highness.
After all, no wonder that it is the night the one who is leading the revolt against the Empress (https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=37)

Oh, and do not return unless you have news about us having a captive. - this also suggests that the orders he laid down were for his military men, to either launch a counteroffensive, reconnaissance or just to kidnap some interrogation subject... (there is no mention of the Empress, related to these letters, so must likely she wouldn't be notified...which would be preposterous, hence subminating Her authority) |
