Competition: Forum and Chat moderators wanted!

AuthorCompetition: Forum and Chat moderators wanted!
Dear HeroesWM players,

I would like to announce a competition for Forum and Chat moderator posts.

In order to compete, you will need to send in a _re'sume'_ and answer all _test questions_ below *TO MY PRIVATE MAIL*.
I recommend to answer the questions with as many details as possible. For example, not only do you need to write *I would send a private message to this player*, but also present the full text of the supposed private message.
The test questions are all based on the knowledge of General, Forum and Chat rules.
Competitors are supposed to study them as thoroughly as possible.
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=4

The re'sume' must contain some basic information about you, as well as a short curriculum of your English language experience. Improvize ;)
Finally, please include a note whether you want to become a forum moderator, a chat moderator, or both.

The priorities will be given in the following order:
1) English language skills
2) Knowledge of the rules
3) Player's residence country.
4) Sociability, sense of humor, other personal qualities.
Yes, language over the rules, you got me right.

The number of each kind of moderators is now unlimited, but does depend on the amount of received applications. When we feel like we have enough, a post about terminating the competition will appear in this thread.

You are free to comment the event in this topic. Please restrain from flooding. Any applications left in this topic will be deleted. Send them to my private mail instead.
Suggestions upon answering the questions will be deleted, authors of those posts will be banned.
Test questions.

I Forum
1. A player starts a topic that doesn't make a lot of sense. It is slightly provocative, allusively insulting, or just meaningless.
2. A newcomer creates a topic or posts a message in Russian.
3. A newcomer creates a topic or posts a message in any language different from Russian and English.
4. An experienced player does anything described in 2-3.
5. A high level player (top 50) posts a message containing insults.
6. A high level player (top 50) posts a message containing issues of racial dissension.
7. A low level player does anything described in 5-6.
8. A player posts a message containing a provocation to insult.
9. A high level player (top 50) posts a message containing a referral link to any other project.
10. A low level player does that.
11. A player criticizes an action of an Administrator.
12. A player criticizes a ban given to him by a moderator.

II Chat
1. A chat user's nickname contains foul radicals.
2. A player initiates flame.
3. A player sends a message containing humiliations of a sexual minority.
4. A player starts telling calumnies about high level players.
5. A player is asking a question about one of the game's basics.
6. A player is asking a complicated question about a game mechanism. You do not know the answer.
7. You get a private message from a player. The message contains a link to another site and some other player's nickname. Looks like the first player misaddressed you instead of his or her friend.

III General
1. You discover some "dirty" activities in a player's transfer log.
2. You discover a pornographic image in a user's private info.
3. You get a private message from a player. He's furious about a ban you gave him, and addresses foul language to your person.
Important:
Looks like the private mail won't hold so many symbols in one letter.
In order to get your whole message uncut and avoid the need to split it, an e-mail address has been created.
Please send your applications to this e-mail instead of my private mail.

Current FAQ
Q: So where do I send those answers and a re'sume'? Can you come to a decision at last?
A: All right. Send them to [email protected]

Q: I want to become a forum moderator, I don't need to answer questions about chat and stuff, is that right?
A: It isn't. You are supposed to answer all the questions, and then to point, what you are willing to moderate: forum, chat, or both.

Q: Come on, theses questions are hard. How do I know for example, how many hours to ban a player for flood for?
A: You don't. The rules are kind of gentle, only telling what's right and what's wrong. This is why the questions were created, I want to see what things do you judge over everything and what things are you tolerant about.

Q: So, to write a re'sume', I just answer your 1)-4) questions. is that it?
A: NO! Not at all! Those are the priorities. Let's say, I have a guy who knows the rules perfectly, lives in Russia and has a sensational sense of humor, but has problems with English, and a USA citizen with outstanding language knowledge and acceptable notion about the rules. If I had to choose, I'd pick the girl.
You are supposed to write some basic facts about you, like ASL (age\sex\location), HoMM experience, interests, moderation experience, maybe why do you want to become a moderator. I told ya, Improvise ;)

Q: So you got my re'sume' and stuff, right? Why am I not a moderator yet? I'm so cool and so fitting for this job!
A: Patience, young hero. If you are as confident as that, all you need to do is wait a little.
Q: May I answer your questions not in English?
A: So how in the world am I supposed to evaluate your English skills? =)) Applications in other languages will not even be considered.
Q: How long does it take to process an application?
A: Usually about one week. While processing, I might ask you additional questions to your private mail. If I do, please answer them as soon as possible.
I've submitted my application. May the best applicant be chosen! Good luck, everyone.
Thx and you too!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank everyone for taking part in this competition. It is now over.
However, with time, our forum will become more populated, so we shall be in need of more manpower. When we feel we are, a new competition will be announced.

Congratulations to those who were selected to join our team.
Those who weren't, you still have a chance to succeed at further competitions.
The competition is running again. We are in need of more manpower already =)

The conditions of competing is the same as above: Please send a resume about yourself and answer those question for the initial application. Don't forget to specify which communication media you are willing to moderate.

Be ready to be interviewed later, this time, the competition will be a little harder than it was in May. It includes you activity at your chosen communication media. So people, who were helping us at the Forum and in the chat, have far better chances to join our team.
i'd like to become a chat moderator, but it is soooo boring to answer questions=( is it possible to make a probationary term for me?) i'm very kind, and gentle, and even sometimes sweet, seriously!))
Unfortunately, we can not grant access into the moderator clan unless we are certain that you have a thorough understanding of all the rules in the game. The only way we can do that is if you answer the questions. If you think answering questions is tedious, what makes you think that answering newbies' questions is any different? Even worse, newbies ask the same question repeatedly, so you'll find yourself repeating the same answer multiple times. And, no, "look it up under help" does not suffice.
for Baba:
you aren't right) when answering question, you communicate...anyway it can't be boring) sometimes it's even funny)and answering your questions is a waste of time...=(
sent in a application :)
chat moderator?
o no i cant battle to anwsering question
Chat moderator question:

Does this apply to the general chat, to the in-battle chat, or both? For some reason, my browser (Safari) doesn't let me chat in the general chat, but it does for the in-battle chat (I have yet to check and see if this problem is resolved by using IE).

Generic question:

Is there any type of commitment involved, i.e., would a moderator be required to be online at a certain time or for a certain length of time?
Chat moderator jurisdiction and duties only spread over the general chat. No connection to battlechat.

There are no compulsory requirements, like to appear in the chat daily, accord oneself to a dense timetable etc. Real life takes over the virtual one, this is right and we respect that.
However if you don't appear in your responsibility communication media (firum/chat) for weeks, I guess, you won't be surprised with getting yourself fired rather soon.
