Author | Why won't my zombies counter? |
In a battle against a dark elf, I was attacked in close combat 26 times, my zombies countered the attack TWICE. I attacking him in close combat 12 times, he countered TWELVE TIMES.
21 zombies aggainst 6 rogues and 6 bandits, and I lost. Do zombies have some limiting factor that stops them from countering? I'm..... let's say annoyed. I now have 13 wins and 1 loss. | They can't counter 2 times in a row. | If you are such champion with 13 wins, don't you know that units(except some special units)have only one counter attack per one turn? | "The order of turns depends on the Initiative parameter of a unit. Thus, creatures with higher initiative can even appear twice on the initiative bar."
Rouges are much faster then zombies, so they could attack you several times while you made only one turn. | it wasn't in a row, they were quite far apart | "Rouges are much faster then zombies, so they could attack you several times while you made only one turn"
That wasn't whta I was asking | Your zombies can only counter once between each of their turns. So if the turn order is zombie, rogue, zombie, rogue, then you can counter every one of their hits. However, if the turn order is zombie, rogue, rogue, zombie, rogue, rogue, you will only counter the first rogue that hits you after you move.
Because of this, strategy is very important in winning a battle. This is why sometimes you will see stacks of one creature; they are pawns to absorb the counter attack, setting up larger stacks to attack without taking counter damage. Also, if you wait, your turn will come more often, and you will be able to retaliate more often (but not attack). | look, if my zombies attacked 12 times, then they must have had at least 12 turns to counter-attack as well, as he's the one who attacked me first. The point of this topic is that I'm....... annoyed, that I was only able to counter in two of the 12 turns I was attacked. | http://www.heroeswm.com/battlechat.php?warid=618391 lol | I reviewed your mistakes. You know what you did wrong? You attacked bandits instead of rogues. Rogues have an extremely high initiative. Paired with an extremely high attack--almost twice the damage of bandits--they're deadly if not killed off early on.
Also, you should redefine "turn." ONE turn is between one time YOU can move, attack, or use abilities and the next time YOU can do those actions again with THAT stack. When your opponent's rogues move, it doesn't count as one turn for your zombies.
Think about it this way: If every time those rogues hit you, you retaliated, how many zombies would you have after killing your opponent off? It would be a landslide victory. You would have killed them off and still had 20 zombies left. How is that fair? |
