Just as a public service announcement: I don't pay for help on hunts. To those that expect payment, please don't help me.
I write this because I got my first letter of disapproval for not sending gold. To DiaDadeius: I'm sorry uou didn't get this warning in advance.
Flip side, I never expect payment for helping anyone else. I figure I get an extra chance at treasure so it's worth the few minutes.
Also, I've helped many more times than I have asked for help myself so I I'll leave it up to karma to judge me on my methods. :) |

I used to pay when people helped me on hunts.
But too many people don't bother to pay, so I've stopped that now. |

Funny cause the "helpful" people could also be the ones who are asking for aide cause they can't beat the monsters they are pitted against. It's a courtesy thing - mature and helpful people see that.
Funny enough I specifically remember giving DiaDadeius half gold for a job well done. Didn't ask for it, but when someone bails your butt out of trouble you say thank you in a way that shows that you appreciate what they did (instead of a .25 or less skill point which is given by the game as I see it). |
to me, giving half of the gold after a hunt is more to show my appreciation for helping, then to bribe someone to help again next time.
since normally there are enough people available to help in a hunt, I doubt it someone has time to check a tranfserlog to see wheter helping is profitable |
Thing is, the reward of xp and chance to loot artifacts should be reward enough if people help only for what they get out of it.
Personally I always help for those reasons.
Sure, gold is nice, and it's pretty much an unwritten rule on the .ru server I heard.
But I think it's pretty much the opposite here.
There are plenty of people willing to help without renumeration. |
The reward is actually irrelevant if you boil it down to this basic:
If you help for free, and get helped for free, everything is fair.
I show my appreciation for those that help me by continuing the spirit and helping someone else. Look at my logs if you want to see how often I've assisted in hunts and how many times I've been assisted.
In the end, my goal has been accomplished. Anyone that chooses to fight with me has fair warning that there will be no exchange of money. And hopefully anyone needing help will know that if there is a hunt in my location I will join and help, free of charge. |

So one player not paying for the hunt is a game problem now? You created a topic for something that could've been achieved by putting one line in char's info.
If you wanted to apologise for misunderstanding to your helper, well, that's what PM is for. And if you wanted to advertise yourself as a helper-for-free there's a trade forum for that. There are at least three topics conserning payment for hunt assistance. Now there's a fourth. Cheers! |
Ok, it's a good thing you're here to police these threads, especially since I've deluged the forum with endless posts.
I acknowledge that editing my personal info was the better avenue in retrospect. So that's on me, whoops. But this thread has sparked meaningful discussion in addition to my original intent.
Ironically, your self righteous enforcement of what you deem 'general forum' appropriate seems as much self promotion as anything else. |

This meaningful discussion , no matter how many times sparked, shall bring nothing new, because there are only two things that can be said about hunt assistance - some share loot, others don't. That's it.
If you consider my response to your posts self promotion, self righteous to boot, suit yourself. It is not, but trying to reason with you will only end in flood on my part, and I might as well refrain from upping this topic.
