and i'm not on a mercenary quest...

It might be because you failed a quest as well.
IF you had a quest a while ago, and failed it, there will be a red cross over Yellow Lake indicating that you should return to the Merc-guild and tell them.
Going to http://www.heroeswm.com/mercenary_guild.php will fix that, as then they will tell you that you have failed. (Probably by muttering "Get lost" in an irritated voice.)
If you followed Aravils link, that would be what happened, and the cross would disappear. Doesn't sound like a bug to me. |
