Author | What's your favorite dummy unit? |
well, we always use 1 unit of dummy stack to block, take out the retaliation and take out ghost miss.
most of dummy stack was low tier unit such as zombie, recruiter and so on. so, which 3 units were your favorite? which was the worst?
for me,
1st: Necro Ghost - if any luck come in, it can be dummy stack for 3 times.
2nd: DE Rouge - wide move range, good initiative.
3rd: Elf Forest Keeper - wide move range, good initiative.
the worst:
Knight Recruiter - this stupid recruiter move so slow, low initiative. somehow, it wont be able to take out enemy retaliation if accidentally trigger the stun LOL [Player banned by moderator Kush until 2008-07-27 05:13:47 // Test] |
fully support, noob recruiter controle by pro pang^^ |
lol i know what you mean about the recruit. when you want it to stun it never does and when you want it to do it survives. :) |
*that should be die not do |
well,
it depends, in hunts i use stacks of 2 mino's for it, why 2?
then i have 5 stacks of them, and it does not matter which one is first in ATB bar. also, with some luck, a stack can survive a counter and be re-used.
using only one of them, means you are often screwed in the atb bar (the dummy comes after the real stack).
in group battles, i do not have units for that, but then, that is why ye have allies.
als, ye forgot the nr 1 dummy, the gated spawn/ imp, THE nr 1 by a long way |
gargoyles
They have long distance, high def, high HP
not so high Ini but enough to be dummies.
Mostly,they will not be block.
But with so low damage,
I don't know what else can they do except dummies :( |
ghost, one of the best dummy. |
Elven Bowmen.
Nah, just kidding :) |
The best dummy is black dragon.
It has long distance, high def, high attack, high HP, high Ini, high damage, immunite to magic. :) |
Lol Kotrin : ) Actually in most fights elven bowmen are first 'dummies' to be targeted by enemy fire, too bad they so valuable even with their poor 10 HP .
In most factions actually there are not many choices some units are too slow or you dont want to expand them. And some units are more valuable in some situations*. Sometimes though Dark Elves use 1 cheap bandit/poisoner forcing melee attack to cancel enemy retaliation and hit after with big stack.
*Using stacks of like 1 bowman could work fine as decoy to draw enemy fire away from your melee troops. But just against some neutrals like gremlins engineers and bowmen who are fortunately too dumb to use volley (fights against them would be impossible imagine an area attack from 500 bowmen ':O, but orcs will hurt if you do that (+1 attack every enemy stack destroyed thanks to their bloodlust ability). Losing dozens of dummies vs bloodlusted units not good : P |
by the way does anyone got a tip to make sure that dummy is first to get its move (during troops settlement)?
I try putting the biggest stack at the rightmost end of ATB but after that I need not making any change to that big stack (assigning + or - troops) else it still can get its move before dummies. |

there is no way to make sure your dummy goes first,
that is the reason in hunts i use 5 dummies with the same initiative.
BTW, the use of a ghost as dummy can have its drawbacks, for quite often the spot your dummy takes is also where the main stack needs to hit, and if the dummy survives, it is in the way.
BTW, do not underestimate the 1 ranged unit dummy to draw succubi out of ammo fast (ranged retalliation takes ammo as well, and if 3 out of 6 shots go to kill a 7 hp bowmen where it could also put a big dent in other stacks is also nice |
since im only a lvl 4 necro i have to stick with my old bones(skeletons). |
those with no retaliation like faeries or shrew will never be a good dummy...
they cant even take out opponents stacks' retaliation LOL |
maybe no one ever thought using them as a dummies... |
^^ Any unit can be the best dummy depend on each situation.
Even shrew 'll cost enemy more turn if put them at right place. |
