Authorprice you may have to pay for Smiths’ guild
As you know, repairing artifacts is much more expensive than "sell and buy". On the other hand however, the ability is important for master hunters' artifacts, other rare artifacts or modified/enhanced artifacts.

Here I would like to show you the "tuition fee" you have to pay if you want to achieve higher levels in Smiths’ guild.

0) Let p be the price for a certain artifact, e be your repairing efficiency (from 10% to 90%), and d be the maximum duration of this artifact.
1) Repairing this artifact gives you p/10000 points in Smiths’ guild.
2) Repairing this artifact costs you 0.4*p golds while it also restore s e*d duration.
3) If using "sell and buy", the equivalent cost for e*d duration is 0.35*p/d*(e*d) = 0.35*p*e golds.
4) So totally, the "tuition fee" per point in Smith's guild is: (0.4*p - 0.35*p*e)/(p/10000) = 500*(8-7*e) golds.

It says no matter what artifacts you repair, the fee is the same.
It also says it is expensive at the beginning, while less expensive in higher levels.

Let me know if you have any feedback or comment.

Price per 1 point in smiths' guild cost 4000, so to get to the 8 level you need 11.540.000 gold.
It is not 4000 but 500*(8-7*e) if the repaired artifacts are useful, as it saves a bit the cost for buying new artifacts.

It IS 4000 :)

Try to repair at least to 2 level and you will understand :)
Here is the summary of the cost in different levels:

lv1: 30*500*(8-7*0.1)= 109500 golds
lv2: 50*500*(8-7*0.2)= 165000 golds
lv3: 85*500*(8-7*0.3)= 250750 golds
lv4: 145*500*(8-7*0.4)= 377000 golds
lv5: 245*500*(8-7*0.5)= 551250 golds
lv6: 415*500*(8-7*0.6)= 788500 golds
lv7: 710*500*(8-7*0.7)=1100500 golds
lv8: 1205*500*(8-7*0.8)=1446000 golds

Total: 4788500 << 11540000, but still is a huge amount of money :-)

I said, TRY TO REPAIR at least to 2 level. Cost never changes.

And point for repair too.
I don't mean the cost will change. If you will use the repaired items you actually save the money for buying them. Hope can understand...

o_O I'm not about price of repairing, i mean price for 1 smiths' guild point. It fixed - 1 point = 4000, so 2885 = 11.540.000
Try to look at cost of items and points they give you for repair.
And did you know that the cost for a new pair of Nikes are about 350 Swedish crowns if you buy them at the right place?
[/end talking about a different thing]

You're both right in this case, even though the formula Zea is using is a little flawed...
You're not taking into account the cost of buying the artifacts in the first place, nor that they at some point will lose all of their durability and have to be re-bought.
Not sure whether I understand all of them. But without any repairing, you still need to "buy-sell-rebuy". So I guess, maybe the costs shouldn't be included as a part of repairing fee...
Mmmm, and also, you can repair "free artifacts" like hunter-gear.
They cost nothing to aquire (if you find them), cost 400 (or 800 or 1200) to repair, have 10 durability, and when they can't be repaired any more you can still sell them for 12 gold. ^_^
Yes. I haven't included those. Thanks for reminding me :-)

But on my second thought, since they are randomly found, I guess we cant count on them. Maybe someone can argue that they can be bought in the market, but the prices, I should say, are really expensive.
Sorry zea, I don't get it.

You wrote that "Repairing this artifact gives you p/10'000 points in Smiths’ guild." So basically repairing an artifact worth 10'000 gold gives you 1 smiths'guild point, while repairing an artifact worth nearly nothing (like the official prices for Hunter gear) brings you nearly no experience, right? Irrelevant to the repair cost?

In other words, is it useful to repair, repair and repair again Hunter gear to get experience? Or does one should just do it because repair price is low?

In other words, is it useful to repair, repair and repair again Hunter gear to get experience?

No, no matter what you repair - you always will get 1 smith point for 4000 gold spent on repairing.
Thanks for your reply Solmyr2000. I think I'll forget about the smith guild... Maybe it's good to be able to repair at 90%, but 4'788'500 gold to get there!! Thanks but no, thanks.

I prefer buying 4'788'500 gold worth of new artifacts instead :)
Hi Kotrin,

I think Solmyr2000 answered your question.

For artifacts that can be bought in the shop the repairing fee is 40% of the price.
So repairing an artifact with 10k golds (or equivalently spending 4k golds) gives you 1 point in Smiths’ guild.

For Hunter gears, the repairing fees are not 40% but rather 400, 800 and 1200 for different levels of hunters' artifacts... So they are different compared with the above mentioned artifacts.
Okay, so repairing a level 1 hunter gear gives you 0.1 Smiths' guild point, since it costs 400 gold.

And since repair price is 40% of the original price, it means repairing is less pricey than selling/buying again as soon as you reach guild level 4. So that's (30+50+85)*4000 gold, so 660'000 gold... Or 525'250 if you use your calculation involving price of selling and buying.

Still, wasting 525'250 gold before any return on investment seems a hell of money.
Yes, it is a hell of money :-)

For me, repairing an artifact seems not to save money but to keep the artifact. Just imagine when you have a unique/perfect artifact (maybe a modified/enhanced artifact). It has limited duration, so you can only use it for certain times. Repairing somehow gives you "more" duration.

Also, even if one reaches lv4, repairing is still more pricey than selling/buying. Don't forget it only gives you 0.4*(max duration) with 40% of the price. Selling/buying gives you full restoration with 35% of the price...
