Author | Wasp swarm spell doesnt change ATB? |
From here
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=31
it is clear that:
1) Wasp swarm spell should delay enemy creature by 0.1 turn.
2) and no matter how many Sprites will cast Wasp swarm - the delay effect will be the same (as it is in HoMM5).
But I never saw the delay effect of Wasp Swarm spell!
NEVER!
Maybe this effect is too small, but sometimes it should show the effect (swap positions).
If anyone has an example of working delay effect of Wasp Swarm spell then please give me a link to that battle. | same question, so many times used this but NEVER seen that in work, something is wrong | for Ivor:
It works only if the hero casts it, not the sprite =) | Only hero?
What a disappointment!
That is really useless spell then, because it is always better to attack with Sprites instead of using Wasp Swarm spell, because Sprites are not retaliated.
And why the hell nothing is said about it here:
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=31
The information there must be updated right now, because many players are confused! | Obvious suggestion for this game:
make creatures Spells work as it is described here:
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=31
Every creature have some level of magic (None, Basic, Advanced, Expert) in HoMM5 and also there is a formula to determine Spell Power.
Just look here (192-194 pages):
ftp://ftp.ubi.com/emea/homm5/community/Heroes5_Manual_en.zip
For Sprites Wasp Swarm Spell is level None (i.e. not Basic, not Advanced, not Expert), so the damage formula is this: 10+2*SP
1-3 Sprites gives 1 Spell Power (12 Damage)
4-5 Sprites gives 2 Spell Power (14 Damage)
6-7 Sprites gives 3 Spell Power (16 Damage)
8-9 Sprites gives 4 Spell Power (18 Damage)
10-11 Sprites gives 5 Spell Power (20 Damage)
12-14 Sprites gives 6 Spell Power (22 Damage)
15-17 Sprites gives 7 Spell Power (24 Damage)
etc.
Also when Sprites cast Wasp Swarm spell on enemy it should slow down enemy by 10% of turn.
I'm not sure if this formula works in HoWM.
And of course, it must work not only for hero, but also for Sprites!
I still can't believe that creatures’ spells are different spells despite the same name of the spell!
That is just absurd!
Why Sprites have Wasp Swarm spell? It should be renamed, because it is not Wasp Swarm, because it doesn’t slow down enemy!
Why players are confused by reading WRONG information here:
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=31
Why? | Robai: I am pretty sure wasp swarm of sprites doesn't slow down enemy by 10% in HOMM5 also. I think the reason was split sprite abuse. split the sprites into multiple stacks and each one will decrease by 10%. Imagine 4 stack of sprites, they could slow down your best creature to half initiative for first 2 turns. | It really works in HOMM5! I used it many times (maybe it doesn't work in all versions, I'm not sure, but I used Sprites to delay enemies). If you would insist then I will check it for you to see if it really works in the last version of HoMM5 (I will have to install it).
And you cant make too many stacks of Sprites.
And 0.1 is not that much.
With 4 stacks you can only slow down a stack by 0.4 turn. And Sprites can only use that spell twice. So it is not overpowered.
Wasp Swarm spell is good only for delay, not for damage (too little damage).
It gives a good strategy, so the game is more interesting with this spell (when it has the delay effect).
I agree that sometimes it is very important even 0.1 turn, but still, if Sprites have Wasp Swarm spell then it should work as described.
Otherwise, this is not Wasp Swarm spell. You can use other name, for example "Wasps of Sprites" or other, but not "Wasp Swarm"!
At least the information here
http://www.heroeswm.com/help.php?section=31
MUST be updated as fast as possible!
It is so simple to write some text.
Why to hide such important information for players?
Moreover, why to lie and confuse players? | Wasp Swarm 5
Summons a swarm of insects to inflict magical damage on the selected enemy
creature. (The spell does not work on undead, elemental and mechanical
units.)
At Basic, Advanced and Expert mastery, target's ATB value is reduced by 0.2,
0.4 and 0.6 respectively.
Maybe it was changed in one of the patches but that is the description for TOTE. So with mastery none, there is no reduction to initiative. with basic master 20% reduction, so sprites with no mastery don't reduce any initiative.
But i agree that the information should be updated and/or worded better to make it easier to understand. | You are right, there is no initiative reduction if mastery in None in HoMM5:
