AuthorResource Monopoly
First off to the guilds and players who bought up all the a single resource to monopolize that product, I congratulate you and a will executed move. With the supply of Nickel controlled, you now in essence control several artifacts and can control who gets some of these higher paying jobs.

I suggest that you do that for the other resources and your guild will be the only one to get artifacts.

For the developers, if a resource is low, wouldn't it make sense that someone would open up another factory to feed the demand? Unless the resource is only in one spot. But a machining with need of more than readily available resources, a market will open up.

Latest I checked, mercury, nickel are being monopolized. That in turn causes several artifacts to have a low output. Resulting in fewer jobs, more people signing up for the game causing more pressure on getting a labor job. Will that not lose more possible players than keeping them?
It is a big problem for this game. I believe this is a design problem and it has to be fixed.
Yesterday, Admin has dumped a huge load of mercury in the Lab.

doug, you are right, this game is not well designed. It is not self-correcting. It needs the intervention of the admin.

I guess the people who monopolise the mercury now wants to complain?
There should be at least 2 different sites for each type of mining and production resources. A few days ago there was just one lab (mercury) and one nickel production facility: an obvious weak point in the supply chain, put to good use by the nickel mafia (smart people from the .ru server).

Now, things are improving with a second nickel facility and a huge boost on mercury stocks. But it will still take time before things get to normal. There are still people trying to get monopoly of Nickel output. It's only harder with 2 factories... But the admin reaction was too slow, so now many people try their luck.

Too bad players can't open their factories.
thanks for the efforts from admin. As long as admin keeps fixing some unpredictable problems, the players are discouraged to take any advantage of the game.
i think you can improve the code by my inc the no of jobs with inc. registration
You despised nickel shortage, you'll just hate steel monopoly.

It started again. One transformation factory for steel -> attempt to monopolize.

I hope admins will react and create a new steel factory sooner than they did for nickel.
Well now both steel and nickel(in both factories) is missing and many items are running out of supply.
lol its an economic slowdown.the market numbers low and nickel is in high demand.

kinda like crude oil dont you say???
Maybe they should open up work-slots so that it will creat more of them??
As long as factories and position are changed often enough, monopolism will be countered effectivly. And just keep in mind, that currently no game exists with a closed self-controlled economy (without need for administration). Games like EVE did a great job on that, but still the market needs admin-ressources from time to time.
in addition to the steel shortage, now there's a gem shortage.

it becomes clearer why there was a Mercury shortage, and now a Gem shortage.

the production capability was not maxed. few people work there.

Mercury lab pays 176 gold, and Gem factory pays 175 gold for wages.
Since the screen sorts it in order of wage for you, player selects the one with the higher wage... at the Lab.

Few people work at the Gem factory.
---
Admin, shouldn't the wages/price fluctuate according to the rarity of the item?
If there is a shortage,
- increase the wage so more people work there. yes we are greedy. wage controls our behaviour.
- increase the selling price of the item at the map itself. rip off the opportunitists who try to monopolise them for resale.
- separate the lab and gem factories, so that they will get full enrollment.

If there is an excess, reverse it.
i agree with aba
I have problems with selling steel. All production facilities, where i could sell it, are short of money. So i am: Sitting on 11 units of steel and can´t sell it. Call me a noob, but i was not aware of that i can´t sell steel on the market. Beside of this very few people are able to work in this facilities.

At least it should be possible to trade steel on the market.
LordSchniesel:

1. You are close to thread necromancy...

2. Buying production facility resources doesn't mean you are guaranteed to sell them with a profit. Now that steel monopoly attempts have ceased, many players end up with big amounts of steel in their hands and little ways to sell them. You can usually get rid of one unit at a time. You'll eventually sell your stack of steel but it will take time.

Selling steel on the market would not help since nobody is after steel now.
