AuthorOffensive Use Of Revive Dead
As we all know , revive dead is used mostly by necromancers defensively , that is to bring back dead units . Furthermore , other factions like Elf and Wizard too can use the spell at lvl 8 . However , instead of the necro's -20% health , these two factions have a -40% health and per revive , as well as the morale counter being reset to -2 .

What I'm suggesting is that Revive Dead be altered so that it can also be used offensively . Being a necromancer myself , the spell could be altered so that :

- I can only revive FULLY-DEAD revivable enemy stacks
- I can control the said revived stack
- the enemy's army morale is reduced to -2 .

For example :
Say I'm fighting a knight in a duel and I've killed an entire stack of 20 swordsmen . I'll be able to revive the stack and control it , even though it suffers a -40% health penalty . Although many may say that it is a waste of 9 mana which would be better spent on my own troops , this spell also causes the army of the knight to have -2 morale .

I came up with this since I've seen that necromancers have no reliable offensive spells , which for the most part are too expensive . It also compensates the 'bug' (note:sarcastic) where necromancers cannot revive stacks that are stepped on .

I would really appreciate it if everyone would be so kind as to add to my idea , give their thoughts to it and whatnot . Please , to the bigots out there who always say that threads like these are 'whining' threads , please refrain from doing so .
maybe in hgunts but this should never be brought into PvP battles as you could just kill a stack of 1 bowmen then leave my army in the negative morale >.>
i find this is a great idea.

he means that the troop he revived would get -2 morale
so ok in 3v3 that would be massivly overpowerd just focus on 1 stack from start then necro revives it without doing any thing and gains more troops so we would have to step on all the corpses think b4 you post stuff necros are powerfull enough already if you want to cry that you are getting ownd alot think of better tacts dont suggest things that will unbalance 1 race necros do fine as they are now.

and no revive will never work on enemy troops not even in your dreams think of it you would have 14 ghosts 20 swordsman(just an example) you can basicly do lvl 3 vs 3 lvl 3 and still win because your too over powerd

morale has NO effect on undead stacks. Bad idea.
I mean this idea with -2 morale is bad Idea, cuz necro stacks have no morale.
What I meant was , the army of the opposing side would get -2 morale , not the hostile stack revived by the necromancers , since all stacks revived by a necromancer always has neutral morale (o) . Of course , necromancers would not be affected by this , since it is a racial trait possessed by necromancers , a bit like elves' Avengers' Guild .

Perhaps to enable it , a necromancer would have to wait till he is lvl 8 or lvl 10 or perhaps even higher to purchase a structure like the 'ORB PEDESTAL OF FEAR' to enable him to use this spell offensively .

Of course this spell would be useless on undead , but that's the point . Won't soldiers be scared and dispirited if they saw their fellow dead comrades rising up from the dead to kill them ?

This is an idea/suggestion , so please don't post useless "Rigid" (hint*hint) rants about how this thread is a whining thread . Did I say that necros are underpowered ? Did I say that we need to be given anabolic steroids ? Of course not . So , please , just listen to my idea and give your positive and negative feedbacks about this , and not say that I am ranting about how underpowered necromancers are ? This is after all an idea/suggestions thread , and there's roughly a 90% chance that this thread is mostly imagination and won't end up as a reality .

It's a terrible idea, sorry. It would make the factions with nature magic overpowered in later levels, and necromancers in earlier levels. -2 morale for the whole of the enemy army is way too powerful. Not so much as to reviving the stack, but for the -2 morale. Also, standing on dead stacks would be completely useless.
lol... 1 archer dead, than he rises this archer, and other 99% of oponent's army get -2 morale... get real, necros would be sooo overpowerd, except against each other... No. This whole thing is bad idea.

Its goodidea with a few tweaks. How about morale is put to 0 unless it is lower. example the enimy has -2 morale. and the cost of spell could be increased when using it this way to like 10 or 12. and last the stack should be only 50 percent health and size. ok

ok... well, than I suggest to make +5 morale to all other factions from start. ;)

I dont see whats the problem with reviving enemy troops. The arguement that you cant step on it is just silly. I dont hear anyone complain about not being able to stop a demon summoning more troops. Does it make a necromancer more powerfull? I dont think it does. His own troops will usually be better anyway. It would just add a little more strategy.

As for the morale. -2 is just way too much. -1 is possible but i dont really see the need for it. As people said, raising just 1 small stack would have a too strong effect. But with it being a small stack will also make it very easy to get rid of the -1 morale again by just killing it.
This is "very good idea".
I suggest that Necro do not need to get -20% health but get +200% health every time he revive a stack.
I also suggest that all opponent of Necromancer get -5 morale since battle start.

Let all of us to be Necromancer :)

But plz remember all , that this thread is not about killing the -20% health penalty , but rather the ability to use revive dead offensively . Also , maybe this should be some sort of talent , or a special ability unlocked in the castle at upper levels .
Ok, then for dark elves I also suggest elemental splitting))) Extra damage is good I think.

And these special abilities would be nearly in the center of the abilities wheel and would cost 30 poins.)) Ok. I agree then.)))
