Author | Serious doubts regarding the attack and defence parameters. |
I have seen people spending thousands on good equipments and mini artifacts.So i want so precise numbers of by how much they help.Expamle:How much does 9 defence reduce the damage delt by a stack of 10 units with 5 damage each?
In the same way how does 9 attack increase the damage delt by a stack of 10 units with 5 damage each?
And by much does one spell power point increase the damage of a magic punch??
((I know its a bit too demanding but any precise help would be highly appreciated.)) |
Saying it the cheaper way:
When attack is > than defence
the attack dealt will be boosted by 5%* (attack - defence)
when defence is > than attack
the attack received will be reduced by 5% * (defence - attack) |
Okk that helped a bit.
But i am really surprised to know people spend so much money for such a small difference. |
Small?
Unit A Attack: 12
Unit B Defence: 2
If unit A attacks unit B the damage dealt will be 50% higher. I thinks it's greatly different. |
You don't need arts to appreciate that. Try going up against a stack of swordies with full rage... |
The damage calculation of Overseer if attack is higher than defence is correct but...
when defence is > than attack
the attack received will be reduced by 5% * (defence - attack) when defence is > than attack
the attack received will be reduced by 5% * (defence - attack)
That's not the way it work's. Otherwise I could kill infinit amounts of monsters on hunts, because if defence would be 20 or more higher than attack of the monster the damage would be reduced do 0. Wouldn't be a good idea...
Easiest way to calculate for me:
1. calculate 1 + 0,05 * |(A-D)|
2. If A-D >= 0 MULTIPLY the value of 1. with your damage
If A-D < 0 DIVIDE your damage through the value of 1. |
for TigerClaw:
The things really are more simple:
each point of attack increases damage nearly for 5%
each point of defence decreases damage nearly for 5% |
no no every 20 points difference between attack and defence doubles the damage or halves it. |
for navimegaman:
:)
20*5%=100%
So we told the same |
the top player on .ru has good attack. so his 5 spawns do over 80 damage. that should show u the importance of attack and defence |
Okk!!looks like we are having a debate here!!Can anyone plz conform any of the above theories.I am getting a bit confused...wait..a lot confused.
But i really appreciate the fact that you guys are really trying your best to help. |
erlemar, you are saying that 20 defence and 0 attack will reduce damage by 100%, which isn't true. it reduces it by 50%.
only an attack greater by 20 will give 100% damage bonus. |
There is real formula:
Attack and defense parameters influence damage dealt (and taken). The exact formula for physical damage is:
-IF Attacker's attack>= Defenders' defense:
D=Rnd(min,max)*N*(1-0.03*M)*[1+0.05(Attack-Defense)]
-IF attack<defense:
D=Rnd(min,max)*N*(1-0.03M)/[1+0.05(Defense-Attack)]
D-damage
Rnd(min,max)-random integer of the min-max damage interval
N-number of creatures in stack
M-mutual faction skill |
each point of attack increases damage nearly for 5%
Why should there be a "nearly". Depending on the formular IT IS 5%.
each point of defence decreases damage nearly for 5%
That "nearly" is right but only if the difference of attack to defence is small . As navimegaman said by greater difference it is NOT 5%. If defence is 10 greater than attack the damage will be reduced to about 67%, not 50%. So about 17% , more damage. As I had written before it would be a bad idea to decrease damage by 5% per defence parameter higher than attack.
Example: Hunt - Farmer (Attack 1)
I'm combatlvl 7 knight. I put all my statuspoints in defence and/or wear arts until my swords reach 21 defence.
If the farmer attack my swords the damage will be reduced by 20 * 5% = 100% (as you said), conclusion my swords get NO, NONE, NADA, NIL damage. They won't die and will happy ever after kill farmers until all farmers were dead => infinit amounts can be killed...
Bad idea! |
20*5%=100%
=!
every 20 points difference between attack and defence doubles the damage or halves it.
If I take 100% of your money or halves it, is not the same.
You will be glad it is not, if those things happen.
:) |
Erlemar already posted the correct formula. Now all that is left to do is use math-skills. :) |
Yes.. I see a mistake..
Let's see the formula:
-IF Attacker's attack>= Defenders' defense:
D=Rnd(min,max)*N*(1-0.03*M)*[1+0.05(Attack-Defense)]
let's take N=1, Rnd(min,max)=1, M=1
so if attack is higher than defence for 1 point:
1*1*1*[1+0.05*1]=1.05
and if attack is higher than defence for 20 point:
1*1*1*[1+0.05*20]=2
-IF attack<defense:
D=Rnd(min,max)*N*(1-0.03M)/[1+0.05(Defense-Attack)]
let's take N=1, Rnd(min,max)=1, M=1
so if attack is lower than defence for 1 point:
1*1*1/[1+0.05*1]=0.95
and if attack is lower than defence for 20 point:
1*1*1/[1+0.05*20]=0.5
So 1 point of attack really increases damage for 5%
But for defence things are more difficult
P. S. Sorry for my mistake :) |
Okk looks like Erlemar has given a excellent formula which although complicated but still solved the problem.And there are also many people who support him or have answers similar as him.
***So the topic is now officially closed by me***
((Thanks to all those who helped or even tried to help)) |
