the standard rules says that for lv 5 the minimum ap to enter any battle is 8.
however is there any upper limit to the ap one can use?

it also says "Armament conformity: Equipment disparity". what does that mean?

no upper limit
equipment disparity means that you currently equipped artifact combination is not valid for the tournament. if you got 8 or more AP, then you probably included hunter artifacts, which aren't shop artifacts
