Why do wizard creatures hardly get targeted in hunt assists whether they are hunters or assistants? | Neutral monsters attack with priority things that do a lot of damage first and leave last the less threatening creatures. They hit especially ranged units because they can do damage without retaliation ( and creatures with no retaliation ability are usually high on threat list ). Wizard creatures ( especially gargoyle/golem ) are the least threatening things you will find around , so they get attacked towards the end usually. Magi/Genies are attacked quite early ( though not earlier than stuff like Shrews,EFKs,wolfhounds etc etc ). | For the same reason why we are usually the last one targeted in group battles. We don't have a unit that the AI or a human considers more threatening than one from the other races. Our main damage comes from our hero and not our troops.
Also, our most threatening unit to the AI is the magi and we tend to make lots of small stacks of 1-3 (depending on lvl). When the AI chooses which side to attack it places greater emphasis on the amount in a stack. A stack of 20 elven bowmen or 30 bowmen/crossbowmen are more threatening than our multiple stacks of 2 or 3 magis. |
