At lvl 5 i'm given a crazy mission. should i even bother yet?

Will the foes i kill on my first attempt remain dead on my next attempt?
(can i whittle them down in two attempts, then finish them on the third) | You just did an army.
In armies, you get 3 tries, and yes, after each try, the units that you killed stay killed. You can see completely dead stacks to the right of the screen.
